TA paint recall/TSB?
Was there a paint blistering recall/tsb for trans ams/firebirds: the section in between the t-tops and the hatch? That section piece was blistered in two rows. Body guy took paint off and did a reshoot and its coming back in the same spots. Heard through the grapevine that its commonplace and that at some point Pontiac issued a TSB for it...but I can't seem to find any information on it...

I'd like to know the same thing. On the Ls1tech link midi 2001 provided most people said that they would cover it depending on the dealership or the 6yr 100k corrosion warranty (mines exceeded both lol) I'm going to the local Pontiac dealer today to see if they'll do it or not. One member suggested bringing in the service bulletin to show em the part numbers.

Like 2 days later!! Body man was aggravated and called a guy in Daytona about it and before he even mentioned what kind of car it was the guy asked if it was an f-body lol. Guy said to take it to bare metal, treat it and leave it out in the sun for 2 weeks and then repaint. Too long of a wait for me, gonna see if the dealership will replace it or not.

NO GM will not honor this. It has been covered over on the other tech forum. I have been denied 4 times. It is a huge headache and alot of hoops to jump through but you can always try. You have to take it to a dealer with a body shop and plead your case. You can get the panel from gmpartsdirect.com pretty reasonable and have it done. I am in the works of making a CF sail panel for my replacement.

Just got back from the dealership. The guy I spoke with looked up my VIN and said its basically up to the Pontiac rep. He told me to wear a low cut shirt and plead my case to him tomorrow lol. He said at the very least they would probably cover a percentage of it and since I'm having my car painted as I type that if I request it to be just the part and not paint then it would increase my chances. Fingers crossed....

I highly doubt they would cover it. I tried a few years back with under 70K and they told me it only applied to original owner. sonsofbeetches... Those dam bubbles drive me crazy.

Ok heres the deal, Pontiac will cover it but only if the following criteria is met: original owner, under 100k and has to be an 02. Other than that you're screwed lol.
I hate those damn bubbles

You are welcome! It sucks that they KNOW about the issues and will do nothing about it or they will deny knowing about it all together. The guy I talked to and took my car too told me that he didn't know how my car was taken care of..... This is my show car. It scores 990's+ at 1000 point shows but he didn't know... Bugs slide off my paint. So that is why I decided to make a mold of the panel I got from gmpd to make my carbon fiber one. That way I will never have to worry about it again.
Now if you bought a Corvette, which alot of those have had the same exact problems that we do, they will still fix those for free regardless. We didn't spend enough money on our cars to have them fixed.

I had mine done 8 months ago. It all depends on the dealership you go to. I was lucky with mine. Only cost $100, and the rest was covered under GM's 'goodwill' policy. Keep trying, might still get lucky.
