Friends 3.8 Camaro

ok so today my friend was driving his 98, 3.8l camaro, and i'm in the passenger seat.

he tells me hie's been having some issues so I tel him to show me. well he gets on it, and i'll say it picks up and moves for a v6, it would smoke my 02 W68 bird dd.
anyway at about 75, his rpms are hanging aroung 3300-3500 and all of a sudden his car shoots to about 6500 and hooks like crazy. but it's not a good kind of jump.

It's almost like the car is giving that last little bit that the sixers give around 115-120, but you can keep going and it shifts to the next gear.

we ran it beside my Z28, and it got up to around 140... fucking quick for a six.

idk what all it has done, exhaust from what i can see, never looked under the hood

In the very least he's had it reprogrammed, my 98 V6 5 speed DD, is governed at 118-120. First gear is great, if I put in posi trac I know it would launch pretty nicely, my prob is without the positrack I can't hook em. It's a great engine, kinda scary that he can keep up with your Z at the high end though.

not keep up,lol we did a speed test because the v6 speedos only go to125.... and he got it to around 140.

it's way faster than my 2002 dd bird... he pulls it by about 4 cars, but my Z will smoke his ass everytime!

I always wanted to turbo my first bird.... the 3.8 seems to react very well to minor modifications... I bet a turdo would make one scream

yeah originally i thought the SS hood would take away from the all black...
but now I'm going with either chrome z06, or chrome zr1s, and black angel eyes projections... so I think the hood would cmpliment the rs kit well

Get the SS hood. The Camaros are boring with out them. Don't worry about the Hood taking away from the black. If any thing the black will take away from the hood.

I think with projections, a black billet or possible sticking with the slp high gloss bowtie, some z06 or zr1 wheels, black ass windows ( i have 20%, but am dropping to 5 sides 2 rear 5 half way down windshield this week) my taillight covers. and some special badges from my man tss... lol mephisto will be one bad ass.

my profile is a pic of mephisto from today. i photoshopped the Camaro logo from my avatar because I love how it looked on the 1st gens onto ther rear of my car.

also shopped a custom LS1.com tag haha.

but I've got the stock 5spoke wheels on right now. but that's a god look at her!

being that its a 231 ci gen 2 3.8 it takes great to turbo .. u know just like the same eng does in the GNX it probly was s/c or turbo might have some kind of spray on the peadle

Turbo's have been done on many of them. There is a thread here in the V6 section with a video of Tim King's car pulling an 8sec ET @150+mph.

There is also another TT 3.8 Camaro. she only started some test runs, but is already in the mid-high 11's. There quite a few single set-ups running low 12's/high 11's.

yeah, I've heard of Tim's car.... thing is crazy.


I've seen a few built TT setups, but I've only seen a handful of single turbo 3.8s....seems like most go with the GTP style of boosting
