oil pressure problem?
Got a quick question i currently live in southern california and just moved here from illinois.........even on the hottest days i never had problems with my oil pressure in illinois.......now that i live in so-cal when it is extremly hot out.....my oil pressure seems to "bob" up and down below the middle line....it only does it after either i have been "racing" it or if it drives for a while and get's hot!!! Any ideas on why it's doing it?.......i checked the oil and it is at the right level!!!

5W-30 might be too light weight for the amount of heat in Cali. You might want to look into getting a SAE30 oil, since this meets the high temp viscosity standards.

change the oil as you would normally, DO NOT USE FRAM OIL FILTERS THEY SUCK. Use a NAPA or NAPA gold filter. Then put your oil in as you normally would. ENJOY !!

I hear you on the temp I live in Phoenix, I run 10W30 Mobil 1, switching to Royal purple (10W-30) next oil change. I do not have any issue with oil pressure when it hot, personally I would never use 10w-40 it's to thick for our motors as I understand it. Your issue sound like a electrical issue (poor connection) with the sender unit. Good luck...

Correct, your sender unit is possible defective or you have an electrical issue with it, I would change the oil to 10W-30 and remove the sender unit (check sender unit's hole is not bolcked with debris) and you could try a after market oil pressure gauge to verify you pressure and that it's not fluctuating as you indicated with the stock unit.
