Computer guys...I need a good external hard drive

I ran a diagnostic test and it said one of my two hard drives has a bad block (said hard drive 0) but i dont know which one that is and i need to throw my tons of MP3s into a huge external hard drive for storage/backup.

Which brands of external hard drives would you recommend and what specs should i need so it will run fast like an internal one?

Seagate all the way, I use them in all of my computers. I dislike the products by WD and Maxtor. They seem to run slower than the Seagate.

Get a regular HDD, then get an adapter so you can treat it as external. That way, when you fill the first one up, it's a simple 2 second swap to fill up the next one.

Get another computer tower/case, a fill it up with hard drives (and the proper cooling). Hows that for an external hard drive? You'll have a hard time filling up that. Assuming you're don't use 256mb HDs from the early 90's.

Do externals hook up via USB cable or something? How fast is the transfer process on these?

As for transfer rates, it depends on the connections as well.
The transfer rate for USB 2.0 is 480Mb/s
The transfer rate for Firewire 800 is 800Mb/s
