AIR tube
just changed my AIR tube on the passenger's side because the other was kinked.
the new tube is getting incredibly HOT, it is melting everything close to it
the one on the other side is no where near the temperature of the new one
i wrapped a rubber hose around it so that it does not melt my damn plug wire
does anyone know why this is hapening
PS: the metal air tube does have the protection material that is wrapped around it so its not just the bare naked tube

Don't have a clue, you're talking about the metal pipe coming off the exhaust right? There's a gasket between the header/pipe but don't think it would transfer that much heat even without it??? If you need the gasket PN it's 12553617.

They're cheap, had to order some cause the dealer didn't have any in stock when I removed mine for my plug change - just wanted them "in case." If you have to wait on them locally PM me your address and I'll send you one.

When mine clogged it threw code P1416, never checked to see how hot it was getting though.
adham - should be getting the gasked today or Monday for sure, remember to be nice to the air pipe bolts - torque is only 15 lb ft.

Sounds to me like the valve is not working and hot exhaust is going into the tube. Thats the only thing it really can be IMO.

If you have a compressor, some brake clean, and some spare time, you can try cleaning the air valves. I've had my pass side on fail twice, the first time I just shot it with brake clean and put it back and it worked fine for a few months, The second time I cleaned it out with the brake clean, than blew a fairly hard shot of air thought both sides of the valve. I used my hand to make a seal on the end of the tube but a hose would be better. It's been working fine since then. Could have bought a new one, there not that expensive and easy to replace, but I was bored and figured why not. Just thought I'd share that.
