    Rear End and Gear Ratios

OK................I just picked up a 2002 Camaro Z28. It looks pretty much stock other then the SLP airbox. However when I was at the dealership, one of the salesman mentioned that the car has a torsen rear end in it. Can anyone enlighten me to what exactly that is, and what the purpose of it might be????? I also have a little fluid on the outside cover of the differential, so I may take the cover off, and replace the gasket. While I'm in there is there a simple way to tell what my gear ratio is??? Any what is the difference with different ratios. I've dealt with alot of cars in my day, but have never messed with this kind of stuff before, so any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and the car is an M6 as well, since I'm sure that may make a difference. Thanks again!!!!

Open your driver door look at the sticker with all the codes, they are in alphabetical order.
gu5 means you have 3.23(200rpm's at 65mph), gu2 means 2.73 (I think it was 2000 rpm's at 80mph). While you are there if it says g80 it means simply you have a locker where both axles (straight line driving) will lock up and rotate at the same speed.

If it's stock, and an M6, you have 3.42 gears. In 6th gear, 2,000 rpm = 89 mph.

a little seepage is normal for our cars...if it is really bad then change the gasket ...but a little seepage from the bottom is not bad or out of the normal.
