Whats up with Joaquin Phoenix?

Just saw a video of him on the Letterman show and man did he let himself go. He just sat there like he was in a daze or what not but i could not believe it. I always thought he was a good actor in Ladder 49 and Walk the Line but now he is a totally different person. It was pretty good how Letterman cracked jokes on him i got a kick outta that anyways heres a link to the vid.

I hate to see him this way, he was a really good actor. Liked pretty much everything I've seen that he's been in ('cept maybe Signs).

Ah well, hopefully he falls off the map, so people remember him from say, Gladiator, and not from going insane.
