    Thoughts on Ceramic spray

I'm on Facebook and Tweeter like everybody else and I see the adds about Ceramic spray the question I have about the spray do you already have to have Ceramic base coat on the car that was put on by a professional or can you just use it like a detail spray on a unprotected car surface?

To be honest, I have the same inquiry mind. I haven't tried to use ceramic spray on my own before but seeing the outcome everywhere is kind of tempting.

Why? How helpful is it? What are the disadvantages of ceramic spray?

My opinion, if your car is out in the weather then ceramic is worth considering. If it is in the garage and only out on nice days or for shows, wax on wax off. My TA gets wax or glaze.

Ceramic when applied well over a properly prepared surface will look nice, protect really well, and last quite a while but it does not really get to the same level of depth of shine as a properly done wax and buff. With ceramic you absolutely must fully prep the surface with a clay bar or other deep cleaning before applying ceramic or it will not coat properly and may look streaky.

My truck that lives outside gets ceramic so I don't have to do it as often. Then you get to the problem of what ceramic. Good luck there, lots to read and many comparisons posted. Since it was for my outdoor vehicles I read a bunch and settled on what appears to be a good compromise between cost and performance, Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Spray.

I see. I might as well take note of that. Thanks!

Never tried using them on my car. But I have always been curious about it.

Have you tried it already? How's it holding up?

Just a little Ceramic knowledge for everyone. A true ceramic in a sprayer would clog the sprayer end up. It would crystallize and harden after the first or second use. So therefore a ceramic spray is not truly a ceramic anything. They only have to have 10-15% to be called a ceramic when most of your true ceramic coatings Cquartz Professional/ Finest Reserve and Modesta are higher than 80% mark I believe they are closer to 90% pure. I would do a ceramic coating only if you know how to 3 bucket wash correctly. You can park it in a garage or away from sprinklers. They are known to water spot. They are amazing products. For driver vehicles I highly recommend Undrdog Professional Products. They can live in whatever you through at them. They are more forgiving as well. They give you the shine, water beading, and self cleaning properties that the big names give you, yet at a more affordable price. I have their Pro+ on both my wife and I’s daily drivers. My Flex lives outside and it looks amazing at 18 months in. As far as a Hydrophobic QD that will give you several months of protection, I suggest Undrdog QD or QD+ QD+ is amazing.
