I've heard/read that I should be lubricating weather seals, t-top seals, window seals, etc. to prevent drying and cracking. Lubricating with what? I don't think crisco, hand lotion, or wd-40 is what people have in mind. I've seen references to GM part#12346241, super lube, is this it? If yes, is there a generic equivalent? Is there a product at an autoparts story I should seek?

I use liquid wrench silicone spray that i bought from Advance. Make sure it says silicone spray that provide a slick coat of protection.Quote:

WD40 is mainly a water displacement/rust eater that "kinda" lubricates. A good silicon spray is quite a bit better IMHO.
Spray silicone on a rag and then wipe the rubber seals on your car with the rag.

Sprayed it on a dish cloth and used it to wipe down the seals. They were pretty dirty. I've turned more dish cloths into shop rags this month than I had planned.
I use Wurth rubber care. I heard about it from my paint and body guy. They have allot of car care products and so far a like all that I have tried. I tried the dupont silicon in the winter to keep the doors from freezing shut and it worked pretty good. I use the Wurth when I have time to go through and detail all of the trim and rubber. It's not cheap though.

Rub them down with a silicone dielectric grease and your're good to go.....
Ask any auto parts store and they should be able to help you..
i use mothers "back-to-black", ..apply about once or twice a year.
I went to our local AutoZone and they did not stock the back-to-black. Nor did they have any input on what to use or if they sold anything. Waste of time to even ask :)
I'm going to go pick up some of that 303 products stuff at a local boat store. The reviews on the net about it are great!
Gm superlube it what we use at work, they also recommend dielectric grease because it has silicone in it. the superlube has ptfe in it
Count another vote for silicon spray.
Just get something with silicone :D
