Which do you prefer?
dude do a search, this is covered about a million times.
well sorry bout that one wont let it happen again.
I prefer the game options on the 360 much better than on the PS3. I prefer the 1st person shooters that microsoft offers.
:haha:
if it would happen again what would be the consequences?:uzi:
PS3... but I haven't played one much... I just have a 360.
360. i have one. i love it. it broke. every single one of my friends' xbox 360s have gotten the redlight failure, and finally, after 3 weeks, i got it too. its under warranty, so i dnt car that much. i havent played ps3 much, but i played COD 4 on it, which was fun, but alot better on xbox (probably just my preference tho)
plus, u cant go wrong with halo lol.
It broke already?
Oh shiut I just saw your avatar...Congrats dude! That's a badass SS...have any more pics? 6 speed...auto?
yea i got the red light failure, but miraculously it works now lol.

I just got a ps3. The other day and love it now for an hd LCD with 1080p :yup:
Neither. PC.
360
I never said he said the 360 didn't ..was stating a fact
One big plus to 360 is the online game downloads. I'm not sure if PS3 has this or not, but i have downloaded the original NES Contra and the Ninja Turtles arcade game from xbox live. There is alot of other games/tv shows/movies you can download off of it.
PS3 GT5 :woot:
Can someone explain to me how the 360 plays HD games but yet they can't play HD movies. What I mean by that is, That if a DVD9 disc can't fit all the content that it takes to make it HD quality movie. How can they make a game fit and be in HD quality when games take way more space then movies. just a thought I had.
PS3 does have the capability to download games as well. PS3 FTW. It's more powerful, has Blu-ray built in and it's free to play online. Yes it is more expensive but with the Blu-ray and included online play it more than makes up for it.
yes ps3 has blu ray, you don't have to pay to play online. The cool thing is that it is much easier to navigate than the 360, i've had both. The ps3 can do the same thing, download movie trailers, game demos, add ons. The other thing is it has blue tooth. I love talking without having a headset plugged into a controller, i'd rather have a small blue tooth headset, which i have. PS3.
Pretty sure reg DVD9 movies and games are just upconverted to HD...PS3 does the same thing except for the blu-ray movies. No console game out there yet takes up more room then the 9 gigs on a DVD9 disc.
You get what you pay for...I wouldn't want to play on a free online service. You don't have much leverage to complain when you can't get a lag free or disconnect free game going...
The 360 interface is very straight forward..the PSP..err..PS3:ughlaugh: interface isn't any easier. There's a wireless headset for the 360...
Can you rent full length HD movies through the PS3 also? What about downloading full length orginal games from the PS1 or PS2? No? Weird...you can on Live...only they're Xbox games and about 400 movies that are updated daily. Funny what 5 bucks a month gets you...that's about all it is with a year subscription.
ny 360 gamertag is AP da 360 Noob
in case anyone wants to play. im always on halo 3 lol.
i have both, i mostly use the PS3 for movies and exclusive games, and the 360 for all else. I mostly play online, and playing the PS3 online is garbage, like someone said you pay for what you get, and online play is where the 360 really shows how great it is. But comparing the 2 overall i really couldnt choose, most people on here probably have only read what others say and have not owned either consel so they are biased. Its a tossup.
Well I just saw the going prices for both and we already know the price of a PS3, but at fye, there were selling an Xbox 360 with 2 games for $349. Kinda hard to beat that.
depends... the 360 has so many differnet versions, it gets confusing. they sell the regular xbox 360 for like $280. but that doesnt come with a hard drive, or a wireless controller. the hard drive is pretty much necessary, and the package with those 2 is about $350. what games are they including? cuz ltos of times they will keep the price the same, but add 2 crappy nonselling games for free lol
Wii
[QUOTE=SeVeReDiStOrTiOn;1189908]Pretty sure reg DVD9 movies and games are just upconverted to HD...PS3 does the same thing except for the blu-ray movies. No console game out there yet takes up more room then the 9 gigs on a DVD9 disc.
Your wrong the ps3 doesn't need to upconvert any of their games because there all blu ray. and second check your facts Lair for the ps3 is 25 gig game look it up and besides dvd9 disc can only be converted to NEAR HD qaulity not 720 or 1080i/p there just upconverted to picture better then 480
I think both systems are good systems but the ps3 is just more advanced then the 360. plus the failure rate of 70% on 360's is scary plus you can't access the internet, its not wi-fi. nor bluetooth, it can't play hd movies unless you spend another $179.the failure rate on a ps3 is far less. You can have up to 7 players on a ps3 all bluetooth you can charge and play at the sametime (I'm unsure if you can do the on a 360) plus the ps3 has free online play ( yes i know the 360's online is better but mine is free) the ps3 has a 2.5
sata internal hard drive which can be removed for a larger hard drive how about a 160gig ps3.
And they now have 200gig blu ray disc. Lets see that with a dvd9. please google it before you reply
play what you want to play but don't say the ps3 isn't a better system when it clearly is the only thing the 360 has going for it is its mass amount of games it has for it. which is great by the way thats my only complaint about the ps3 but then again the ps3 has only been out for a year while the 360 has been out for 2 1/2 years and 70% of those are broke and being repaired.
i really only do online play, so im happy with the better online play of the 360, but yes, the ps3 is awesome too
Atart and Nintendo FTW.
I used to have a SE Halo Xbox 360. The red ring of death showed up after less than 20 hours of use. I had to return it, but at least it lasted long enough to get me through the Halo 3 story line.
The 360 was a lot of fun and I'll get another one if I can confirm that the current models use the two 65nm chips (vs. the 90nm ones)...
[QUOTE=bmyers;1201974]Please explain? Where the Fan boy thing comes from. I think both systems are great. But one is a better system in total and the other has more games and way better online play and has some hardware problems. none of that is a lie its facts.
I do like and own a PS3 so if that makes me a so called fan boy then so be it.
then the same goes for you if you like or own a 360.
I will buy a360 when they fix the hardware problems their having. They got some really great games. but they don't and never will have thee game GT5.
I was mainly talking about DVD movies being played on both systems when mentioning up-converting...I know ps3 games and blu ray movies are uncompressed. What I should've said was great games made correctly don't need to be uncompressed...see any current PC or 360 game for that.
Is this the Lair you're talking about? http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/l...g=result;img;0 Hmmm, I guess all of the 25 gigs didn't make it a good game...hopefully that's not a PS3 trend. Oh wait...
The drive speed of the blu ray is a lot slower then a reg dvd drive....add the huge disc space and you have the notorious long load times for the PS3. That's the problem with a new tech drive(just like the old dvd players from years ago)...the first one's are always slow as hell. http://arstechnica.com/journals/thum...2007/1/17/6658 <-------good article
I've owned 2 360's (original was a launch console owned for 1 1/2 years, never gave me a prob) and the one i have now. So by your 70% statistic one of my two should've failed...but neither have even given me a problem. So either your stats are off or i'm one lucky SOB and should run out and buy a lottery ticket:think: I seriously doubt 7 out of 10 360's fail..
Also good thing that you can charge the controllers at the same time...the way bluetooth goes through batteries you'll need it.
I'll buy a PS3 when the PS3 game console has games to play on it...if I want to watch blu-ray movies i'll wait for the players to drop in price, which they will.
My controllers stay charged for days on end and I have played several hour session for several days and never had a problem.
I never said lair was a great game you said there were no games bigger then 9 gigs. I just showed you there is.
I already agreed that the 360 has better games at this point in time. But yet you can't understand that the 360 has been out twice as long too I'm just simply saying that dvd9 is not the future for movies or games. At some point everything will be HD which can't be done on dvd9.
And the whole dvd9 game thing is a joke its all about space and how much a disc can hold. the more space the better graphics, sound, longer game play everything gets better IF USED PROPERLY.
And nobody has answered the question I asked.
If a DVD9 disc can't support a HD movie Then how is 360 playing HD games on a DVD9 disc. When a game takes alot more space then a movie?
Like i said I will purchase a 360 at some point after they fix there problems. and if you don't believe about the 70% kill rate look up
Just wondering why you own 2 360's? whatever you want play is fine with me I'm just stating facts about the PS3 and or 360 and correcting persons with wrong info.
Come ON! Start posting something else than far reached badly research articles.. we want Aars back!
Here is a lesson from some guys who knows their shit:
A 12x CAV drive like the one in the 360 will be 12x speed for around 15% of the outer disc, that figure is peak performance. The closer to the inner ring it gets the slower accesses get (5x speed on the inner ring) - probable average: around 8x speed. Another interesting thing seems to escape everyone is that the 12x DVD drive in the 360 only reads dual layer discs at a maximum of 8x speed. As it was in single layer, the 8x speed is peak performance. The 2x speed BD drive performs quite well in this case: a BD25 on PS3 fares better than a DVD9 on the 360. The great majority of 360 games are and will be pressed on DVD9s. Another interesting point with existing CLV BD drives is that they do not have the dual layer penalization with DVD dics. If a BD drive is rated to read DVDs at 8x, it will read dual layer DVDs at 8x as well. This is why Sony is comfortable with its choice and knows it will hold its own against MS's choice in the DVD format.
70% sounds accurate. every single friend i know that has an xbox 360 has had the red ring. its only a matter of time... ive only had mine for a month, and i got it once but it went away (yes it was a miracle)
but i understand it will probly happen to mine also (permanently) and ill just deal with it. im pretty sure they fixed the chip problem now, but im not sure
anyways, im gettin call of duty 4 for christmas so between that and halo 3, i have no need to have friends lol
Its posted right in your artical son. And what do you think the artical you linked is? Its someones opinion on blu ray as a gaming disc smarty. Well I think its just to hard for some to understand change. I hope you have a good time with both your 360's its a good thing you got 2 because 1 WILL burn up. I'm going to go play my PS3 or maybe watch a blu ray movie or maybe get on the internet and serf the web or link my PSP to my PS3 and control my PS3 from work. Or invite 7 buddies over for a crazy get of Madden.
All in true HD and true surround sound. While you sit there and try to think of ways that the 360 is the best but yet the best you got is more games and better online play. keep a look out for the rings of death they will appear on 1 of your 360's if not both . good day SIR:jerkit:
The Internets: Making pointless arguments seem like they matter since 1994.
:blah::jerkit:
Apparently you don't understand the concept of past tense....so when I say "owned two 360's" that means in the past:yup:. So yea...I sold the first one for after a year and a half for $400 to help pay for the computer i'm on right now. Then after 8 or so months I missed it so I bought another one...got it? Grrrreat:yay:
If you even have 7 friends you will need them to come over because of PS3's shitty online play...then you guys can have a circle jerk after.
Damn..you got me there with your cool web browser. I wonder how hard it would be for Microsoft to add a web browser to the 360...I mean it's not like they're not a expert in that area or anything. They haven't because it's :gay: and about as pointless as linking the PSP to the PS3.
Yea you're right...all I do have is the 360 has more and better games along with awesome online play for those games. But really, who wants awesome games with equal online play on a game console?? Damn it..I should've bought a $500 blu-ray player.
I'm going to go rent 1 of 400 movies on live...then maybe download a Xbox original game...hell I may even play Mass Effect. Good day Maam...
Yes I know it's like the Special Olympics:butt:
I'm actually going to buy a PS3 when the price drops more and when they get some good games that don't need a online. I've owned (in bold for you blackbird) a PS2 and a PSP so i'm not brand bias...the 360 has more of what I like.
anyways... i just got assasins creed and call of duty 4 and wow...
xbox live gamertag: AP da 360 Noob
anyone wanna play some halo3 or COD4?
360 owned 2007 with its awesome library of games...but sadly it has nothing to show in 2008 as it has already used its big name franchises...PS3 has a big year ahead in 08 with MOST of its big name franchises expected to make they're debut on it...I actually got a 360 for xmas (owned a PS3 since launch day) and I love Gears, Bioshock (Halo was OK i guess, kinda disappointed) but we can't deny the obvious...PS3 is just a better machine whether we all like it or not...objectively its just a better piece of hardware.
I say this for the following reasons...HD out of the box (Blu-ray drive), HDD in every unit, wi-fi, hdmi (360 now has it 2 but it sux for early adopters), bluetooth (controllers last for ages actually), and free online play (never had lag or disconnect issues with it but could be better, which has happened since launch), an ever evolving online store (yes you can download full PS1 games but no PS2 downloads, but still far behind Live), The fact that it lets you play games on your PSP (Lair can be played on it if left in the bluray drive...games sucks tho but feature is quite promising), DVR feature announced for Europe (we should also see it in the US)
360 is a great piece of hardware as well but i hate the fact that if you want wireless access you have to pay an extra 100...you want HD movies you gotta cough up somewhere around 200 (for a format we know isnt going to win)...core units dont come with an HDD (which helps PS3 reduce loading times drastically), those damn controllers dont come with a rechargeable battery pack (which is pretty lame if ur paying 50 bucks), and last but not least the red rings of death, Live kicks ass, and as mentioned before its library (other than ninja gaiden theres nothing much to look forward to as of now tho)
PS3 sales have picked up tremendously lately (since launch of 40 gig.. 275% jump in sales..or somewhere in that range) I think next year will show which machine is truly next gen and although 360 is fkn awesome PS3 should overtake it with titles like GT5, FFXIII, FFX Versus, MGS4 and God of War just to name a few and all the crazy features sony throws out (although some are really fkn retarded)...people have different taste in gaming and are console loyal...i personally think the PS3 is the better machine but I would like to see both PS3 and 360 do well since that translates into more awesome games for me to play.
As for SeverDistortion...i think you have some of your facts wrong i.e. bluetooth controllers and unplayable online games and how you claim ps3 has NO good titles...i sense a little fanboyism...some people hate on things they cant afford...keep hearing how "its too expensive" but yet they spend money buying accesories for the 360 that come standard on a ps3 and in the end pay more or the same amount the ps3 costs. Isnt competition between these two powerhouses good for us? after all we benefit from these two companies trying to out do each other...PS3 just offers a nicer, sleeker package...an all in one if you will...but dats just my bias opinion....to each his own...merry xmas!
Bluetooth does chew through batteries faster...that's pretty well known so there's not much to debate there. Not to mention when the battery goes through it's lifespan and finally dies it can't be replaced.
All the games that are good on the PS3 are cross platform...but with longer load times. MGS and God of War are the only exclusives i'm looking forward to playing. Here's a side by side trailer of DMC4...I think the 360's textures look sharper but i'm a "fanboy" so i'm probably seeing things. Either way it's very close..
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/29150.html
You're right about the PS3 being built better..it's definitely heavier and feels more solid. That doesn't do me any good though if it just sits there and looks pretty. The 360 has a even cheaper feel then the launch consoles did...seems to have more plastic.
I wouldn't call favoring one system over the other as fanboyism unless they're completely close minded to every platform. I also play a lot of games on my PC that i'm on right now, have owned a PS2, PSP, Dreamcast, Xbox and several Nintendos(Gameboy, Gameboy advanced, , NES, Super NES, N64). I'll get a PS3 when it's more then a movie player...as will a lot of people.
I can afford a PS3 just fine thanks...but here's a check list for you since you brought it up. Never married single guy--Check, no kids--Check, decent paying job--Check, have a g/f that pulls her own weight--Check. So yea, i'm doing pretty good but thanks for asking..
As far as looking forward to 360 games in 08, there's tons of exclusives not even mentioning the cross platform ones. I'm not going to waste my time and list them all..here's a link. http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums...ic_id=26100420
as before i love both systems and have both, but if you really think that the online capablilities are the same you are sadly mistaken, as said before you get what you pay for and it shows.
Damn, this reminds me of the my dad can beat up your dad arguments in kindergarten
Thinking about it, if we didn't have eyes, arguments like this wouldn't exist. That'd be pretty cool, as long as you get a peek of boobies every now and then.
SevereDistortion...when I mentioned people hate on what they cannot afford i wan't referring to you in specific...i was just referring to that stupid fanboy argument that they use...wasn't specifically saying you couldn't afford it. My bad if it came out that way.
Now onto the fact that bluetooth "chews through" batteries...I have to disagree with you since i own those damn controllers...if i could record it i would just to prove you wrong...i have play god knows how many hours everyday and I have yet to charge it...I believe i charged it about a week and a half ago or two...i'm not saying that the ps3 controller lasts about the same as the 360 but it lasts a long fkn time. but you are right the 360 does last a lot longer. As for replacing the internal battery of the ps3...well you can change it...controller pops open quite simply and then you have easy access to the battery...i'm pretty sure you can even buy one that lasts longer than the one in there right now as long as its the right voltage and size. But thats another subject on its own.
Well i saw some exclusive titles on that list that you provided but i could only recognize about 3 that are not totally new franchises (could be 2 or 3 more that i don't know of)...so i got a question for you...are you sure these exclusives are gonna be any good? can you guarantee that?
I don't think you can really bring out DCM4 to state one has better graphics than the other...game is still in production...so we don't know how its really gonna turn out in the end...but if you want to talk graphics and such you could look over at infinity ward or naughty dog and see for yourself what they have done with the ps3...even insomniac is throwing out games that look just like any good 360 game or better (not to mention both of their games are 9+ games)...COD4 looks exactly the same on 360 and PS3...Uncharted is probably the best looking game of 2007...i don't PSnow if you have seen it but i think you would be a little amazed, aside from all the praise it got for its gameplay and story. Heavenly Sword looks amazing and even though its not a game that blew people of their seats it was still a damn good game (many complain of how short it was..but story was pretty good)
360 is not any better graphically speaking that the PS3...developers (such as EA) are just fkn lazy and port games and don't care much for making them run good...as I stated above some developers have really been capable of tapping into the potential of ps3...unlike fkn EA that just cares about crapping out shitty games and making a quick profit...just look at madden and you'll see what i'm talking about (same shit different year)
I wouldn't say PS3 has no titles to play...mine has been pretty busy actually and even though it now sits next to a 360 it still sees just as much playing time as the 360...they both offer good things so i can't complain.
my friend bought a 360 today and i told him my speil
PS3>360
it's simple: PS3<XBOX360ELITE
360 Elite is a joke...all you get is a bigger HDD...as far is gaming is concerned right now you don't need that much space...hence why i just bought the premium 360...but if thats the case i can put in a 500GB one in my ps3 for about the same price as the 120GB one costs for 360 :yup:
+1 for 360 :woo:
The xbox360 elite is what you upgrade to from your regular old xbox360 if you're a spoiled 13-year-old who's insecure about his 4th place rank in Halo 3 in the world.
:iagree:
i would rather have the elite. what??? i like the color!
