Potentially a few good match ups this week. I like Buffalo over the Jets as an upset.

I start out slow every year the first week or two......almost as bad as scott :lol: Just kidding....he didn't start sucking balls until later in the year last year. I was in dead last week 1 or 2.

I will do my best not to. This is my first go at it. I haven't played in any NFL pools since my late 20's. Husband is not a football fan. My rules are that if the Steelers are playing, I get to watch and I get to watch on the 54", no buts about it. Basically, it's the only time for the most part that football is watched around here. Although, keeping track of you guys through out the seasons has made me tune in a little more frequently. So, now I'll just tell him that it's all your fault if I have to watch more football around here since you guys made me join the pick'em league :lol:

I'd like to actually give them credit here and say they played a good game. I'll say Romo played a good game. The team as a whole though had way too many penalties and under normal circumstances that would've cost them the game. Fortunately for Dallas the Giants offense looked like they had concrete shoes on.
Both sides running game looked like poo in the 1st half. Either that or both teams Defense was just that good. :dunno:
2nd half Giants defense looked winded.

Just you and SandmanWs7. I almost did, but decided against it. I figured the first week, I'd stick to the odds for the most part. I did pick a couple of the underdogs to win though.
The flags were flying for sure. The first half I was switching between the game and the DNC. By the third quarter I was watching the game.
Where does it show who picked what and the current standings/leaderboard just for LS1?

Honestly - yeah when compared to the last few seasons. Cowboys seem to rack up more penalty yardage that most teams pass/throw in a game. If it wasn't for that some teams would have never advance the ball.Quote:

It's just making Goodell have to redefine his suspensions. They did tell him to tread lightly so to speak on the new punishments he hands out as in don't just rename the offense and suspend everyone for the same amount of time. He will also have to show proof this time which really wont be hard for him to do. No one to my knowledge has said there wasn't a pay for performance plan there.....it just wasn't a pay to injure. Best case scenario is this appeal drags out for a couple months.....most likely Goodell will expedite it though just out of spite and Smith will be gone for 4 weeks in October or November and Vilma will be gone for the remainder of the season.

we're fine either way......we have our bases covered pretty well IMO. Our D has been a little inconsistent so far but that's preseason and vanilla schemes. Our front 7 is going to be pretty bad ass once they get some game action under their belts. Fortunately our O will put up points by the bucket load to help carry them for a couple weeks.

The Saints played better once the no-name coach realized that the running game wasn't working and that the best way to score on the Redskins is to attack its undermanned, tiring secondary.
By the way, one terrible call, which went in the Saints' favor: the "forward progress" non-reviewable fumble.
overall I thought the refs did a pretty good job though.....there's always going to be a few calls in every game that don't go right. The PI call on Harper in the endzone was a bad call IMO. There's always a few that could go either way. I'm not sure I could tell a huge difference between these refs and the normal crew though.Quote:

I have to admit that PI call in the endzone was a bad one and it led to a TD which made it worse. But overall they did a good job if not better than the reg crew IMO.
I think I missed those few minutes of the game with the end-zone pass interference call.
I actually forgot those were replacement refs. I didn't hear the broadcasters mention it at all, and the calls seemed very normal. Besides the freakish once-every-few-years fumble-touchback call :)
I can't believe the colts got rid of Manning. Luck is good and all but you can't beat experience and leadership. If they were smart they would've kept Manning as starter and had Luck as a backup...the things he would've learned. The niners did it and look how that turned out with Montana and Young.

Dallas - NYG : The Giants just didn't look very sharp, and Dallas had a chip on their shoulder from last year. The Giants are missing Manningham & Jacobs I think. The NFC East is going to be TOUGH.
Indy - Chicago: The defense of the Bears gave Luck an early, and difficult test. I didn't figure he'd do well, but he didn't do horrible either. That game was closer than it could've. Cutler started out very poorly(1-12, INT), but then pulled it together the rest of the game with some really nice throws.
PHI - CLE : This game gets the "Tidy Bowl of the week" award. Piss poor football for both teams.
STL -DET: Detroit stole one here. I'm not sure if St. Louis is that much better (Fisher), or if Detroit has taken a step backwards.
MIA - HOU: This game pretty much went how I thought it would. Houston's a contender if they stay healthy.
ATL - KC : Ol' Matty Ice looked pretty good - I didn't really hear/see much about this game other than that.
JAC - MN : This might have been the wildest game of the first week so far. My heart sank when JAC took the lead with 20 seconds to go(and made the 2 pt conversion to go up by 3), but MN was able to tie the game as time expired, and get the win in O.T. We'll take it!
WAS - NO : RGIII looked great. He's very impressive, and really looked comfortable out there. The Saints' defense is the weak link.
BUF - NYJ : The Jets' offense really showed up. I'm happy since hopefully it will shut the media up for a day or two. :rolleyes:
NE - TEN : Brady & company took care of business. Locker got hurt on a play that, wasn't even a play. Possible separated shoulder.
SEA - ARI : I don't know much about this game, other than Kolb came in for Skelton and rallied the Cards for a win. Rookie Russel Wilson almost ralled the Hawks for the win, but came up short.
SF - GB : San Fran's defense is stifiling. GB's defense still has the same problems as last year. San Fran's offense has improved. They're still the real deal. This game shouldn't have been this close.(Cobb's touchdown should've been called back. CAR - TB : The only thing I heard about this game was that Cam Newton struggled a bit.
PIT - DEN: Mr. Manning looked great. The Broncos' defense looked pretty good too. They're going to be right in the middle of everything this post season.
CIN - BAL & SD - OAK tonight!
The Colts had almost no talent last year (hence, the record), and Manning was a budget-killer. Getting rid of him allows the pieces to be assembled. Manning on the Colts this year would have led to a first-round playoff exit at best.Quote:
