My wifes 02 CETA was totalled today,she was rear ended in the interstate and spun into the concrete center divider,most importantly she was ok,other than a cut on the back of her head.I will post some pics when we get home.I had never seen her so depressed.
That sucks! I'm glad to hear she is OK though.
Good thing your wife made it out ok, the car can always be replaced.

Yellow is invisible,the ceta has been hit twice before but not that serious.she was merging onto I85 and it is a three lane,she was clear getting into the center lane and a van hit her trying to get in the center lane from the left lane.I was not with her but that's what she remembers.she said she was clear and already in the center lane and the front end started coming around and she tried to steer out of the spin but the rear of the car hit the center concrete divider.all of this at less than 50 mph.
Glad to see there were no serious injuries.
Thanks,I told her it could have been lots worse.we are both thankful she was not seriously hurt.I think the subframe connectors helped to keep the passenger compartment from buckling,the people in ER said she should have been hurt bad from the pictures of the car and accident scene.so y'all get some sfc on your f bodys

are you parting it out by any chance? I would be interested in a few parts. such as the center console lid and the a pillars. maybe a few other parts like the motor.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is totally up in the air at this point for them. I hope if not another CETA that you can at least find another TA. Before the insurance takes the car I would definitely see what you can do about returning it to stock as possible and keeping any and all performance parts you can off of it. They will never give you what it is really worth. Especially with the miles you had on it. A sad loss indeed, but I am extremely glad to hear she is OK.Quote:

She has found a few nice cars,99 Firehawk in TX,99 30th anniversary in Atl,and a ceta with less than 3k miles.what the insurance company says will determine what we do as far as buying back goes,the car is pretty f ed up,slp lid and strut tower brace may be all that we can get,the headers are good but it would be a lot of work for some $400 pacesetters.as far as Destin goes,we have not ruled it out but we will probably be in my Monte Carlo SS.we shall see.thanks for all the well wishes guys,means a lot! That var had a lot of sentimental value to her and even though is cam and will ne replaced she is quote upset.

Have you heard anything from insurance yet? I know I had to argue with them for a month just to get a decent offer out of them when my Wife's truck got totaled.
Oh yeah,fighting the other peoples insurance company,who says they are not at fault even though we evidence otherwise.on a sidenote,my wifes cousin said "subframe connectors are useless" which I said was probably one of the most ignorant things I have heard in a while.

No citations issued,Alabama is not as strict as other states.I found a sweet 35th SS in Gainesville,FL,very good condition 40k miles for $13,990 but she was interested.she wants a c6 vette or another CETA.
Have you talked to a lawyer yet? I got one when I was rear ended a year ago. The other people's insurance company was doing the same shit- saying they weren't at fault even though I was rear ended. Well...they changed their tune once my lawyer called them. I had a rental car, appointments at a massage therapist and an offer for my truck and lost wages within about a week.
Well I was hoping I wouldn't have to speak to a lawyer,but we will next week.
I think my paintless dent repair guy could fix that.
J/k. Glad the wife is ok. One thing about the 99 anniv editions, the wheels are irreplaceble and impossible to match the blue tint on them so make sure they are all original if you go that route.

Insurance sucks,they charge you out the ass then when you need the service you pay for they try their best to screw you.

I was rear ended once badly. Car looked similar to the OP's. I was in physical therapy for 8 months due to a back injury. I had State Farm. They paid for my therapy sessions, doctor's appointments and all tests. The defendant only had $25,000 in vehicle accident coverage so once that was exhausted, the remaining money came from my policy; under insured motorists which consisted of another $25,000.
All said and done, we had an arbitration and I was awarded a dismal $13,000.
This is why I've read all my fine print with my policies. If your insurance payments are really cheap, it's because corners are being cut. You would be amazed what simple things people skip out on that can screw you, like a minitort, a cheap part (around $10 a year) that protects you from being sued having to pay $500 if the other person doesn't have collision. we have State Farm full coverage on both cars,just suck if we have to pay the deductible and have to file on our insurance since the accident was not our fault.the other party is no answering phone calls from their insurance ,which is not a good sign to me.
Ouch! Good thing there were no rear passengers and glad the wifey is okay. How many miles were on the car? Not sure what I'd do on scene to the other party if it was my car.

I am pulling for you. Like I said, If I were you I would take any stock parts you have lying around and swap them back on it. They are not going to pay you anymore for the mods you did to it. Just thinking about dealing with the insurance companies and stuff like this ticks me off.
I think that depends on the policy you have. I have it specifically stated in mine what I have done to my car so it's covered in the event that something awful would ever happen. I was informed the only thing I needed to supply was receipts, if need be ever.Quote:

The ceta is on lockdown,we weren't allowed to even remove the slp lid.I do have brand new slp eibach springs,bilstein shocks pkg,umi lower control arms and umi panhard bar that never even came out of the shipping box that are now officially for sale.pics and prices tomorrow.we were fortunate enough to buy a 2007 Corvette today! Silver lining I guess.

she likes the vette but she is still upset about the ceta,she did run 12.73 @ 112 last night with a .067 rt,so she was happy with the vette's performance.
