i am wondering what kind of speeds you guys have hit in your fbodys and with what mods.
108 bone stock check sig
fastest on the street is 70 lol
I went 130 In a intake only camaro then i got scared lol
yall can say what ya want on this one, but i know a guy with 2009 z06 we went 198 in it...slowed down to about 130sih and clipped a deer...fucked the front end up...did a few little thing to get it looking ok that night and traded it to a dealer for a 2010 challenger the next day...i bet the craped there pants when they took it back to do a oil change or something on it
I guess I should say it....

That being said.... 155+ on a test track :) This was pre 4.11's.
couldnt tell ya, the speedo only goes up to 155, and i had more of 5th gear left.
full exhaust, bolt ons, tune
166mph
Full Bolt Ons
A4 2.73
I've only taken my stock '98 Z28 to 125mph,
but my 2000 Kawasaki ZX9r I've had to 170mph, I take this bike to 140+ often, I mean red line 3rd is 135mph, click into 4th more throttle, then 5th, and still 6th - this thing feels better at triple digits than the Camaro
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...r/A1/004-1.jpg
130 and just hit 5th gear, these things can hit about 175-180 stock without the governer
130MPH
531RWHP
:dunno:
Buried speedo with plenty left. Had just bolt ons :D
H/C....won't try it for multiple reasons
buried the speedo when stock, and it still was accelerating .now wit head and cam it reaches that speed very fast but dont know the top speed the speedo only reaches 260 km/h about 158mph
does anyone know where you can get the speedometers that go up to 200mph? in my old camaro i buried it at 155 multiple times and it still pulled and i never got to see what it could do. .but i would like to find out in my new one and i've seen videos of f-bodys with 200mph speedometers
150 in my pretty much all stock z28 just to feel it out. Never again, relly dont see the point. 0-100 > 100-150+ imo
115 in the 3.8
105 or so in the SS, that was coming out of third, missed 4th so I shut it down, plus my mom got scared, lol.
Really haven't had an opportunity to run at all in the SS, its never been on interstate since I've had it. I've got a 3 mile strip that's straight, flat, concrete walls on both sides, that's were I've run the 3.8 up, but the SS hasn't seen that run yet
its common knowledge that people haul ass there...there's a big curve leading up to it, and on that curve, everyone moves on over to the right lane, leaving the left wide open, as far as you can see
85 mph in the daewoo lanos, i was going down hill
135 in the z28
yeah i got roped in then i was like damnit. honestly though the only thing i have a problem with is the headers and thats only cause of clearance issues everything else has been working fine
Is their any better intake than the SLP one??? Volant or something
raced an srt 4, wasnt looking at speedo but after i let off looked back and saw him then looked down it was just coming down past 150, so a possibility it was more that 150. Just had slp lid and maybe a P&P TB
138 mph
Direct Flow lid, BMR shock tower brace, Bassani ORY and SLP Loud Mouth 1.
2000 A4 Z28 147mph stock had to shut it down cause of traffic... iv only brought it up to the 140's twice... still want to see what she will top at...
Reached 152mph then let out, with 3 full grown adults. On a strech of road you can see for Miles to make sure no one else was around.
145 Indicated. not corrected for gears. full bolt, full exhaust and tune A4
I-20 between longview and kilgore
150, bone stock 02 SS SLP
159mph, buried the speedo but gps kept counting, was in 5th at 5100 rpm, slight downhill grade, had to slow down for a turn, still room to go, i have bolt on's.
oh, and that was on a closed course.
100-160 .......every time when i drive to my girlfriend in munich = 1-2 times in month :-)
154, then I had to shut it off because the gf was about to piss herself:cry:. For the record though the car felt more stable at 100+ than it did just driving around town. Mods in the sig.
110 on that little bit after the end of the 1/4 mile. thats the only place i go above 85.
Anybody notice at those higher speeds the windows sorta peeling open a little? Any fixes for that? Sounds like they are cracked open just a tick when you do anything way up there....
i think its just the wind pushing the seals open, lol
143
173 ran out of highway. stock speedo was laying near the column. used gps to do the rest. lol.
ls6 cam, stock intake manifold, 3:42's, ported stock heads, all free mods, stock manifolds, lid, and tune of course.
stock tune will stop you at 163
So here is what I have done:
On I-80, from Auburn, ca to Rocklin, Ca; the interstate is a nice down hill road with decent surfaces. I picked a time when trafic was very little and with very little gas in the car and no other objects in it (not even the spare tire was in it), with tyrick racing 101 gas. I started my speed run. I used my Escort Passport 9500i radar detector (it has a GPS speed measurement feature) I had this on and its accurate I hope. Anyway the run went great. All be it it took some time and a good length of road to get er dun.
At 130 to 150 I almost pissed my panties-since the car started a rolling up and down motion (due to under side aerodynamics and road shape) not being the best. I was able to finally get it to 160 and thats were I stopped. The car may have been able to go higher-but I simply did not have enough road way and time to get er higher.
The sounds of air noise were terrrble. I wont do it again ever.
So I went out and bought a Kawasaki ZX1400 street bike and with a speed healer installed on it (speed correction factor of -58.8 percent) I went and took her to a road outside of Ely Nevada with some other speed freaks and tok the bike to 202.5 Mph.
So what did I learn. I love speeding. I love it. But most cars should nto be bought for high speed runs-there simply is not enough road that is safe.
So buy a crotch rocket-alter the gears if need be and bypass the speed restrictor device and go for it.
I love taking my ZX14 to 150 plsu speeds each day I am on it, takes a a safe road and a few seconds-but damn 150 plus on a bike feel so great and is so easy.
PS,,,,tickets suck...
I mean tickets really Really REALLY suck,,,,
i ran 140 last time on loop 325 and i still had one more gear left and the speedo was still going..at does kind off speeds you fell like any little mistake will kill you!! lmao it was awesome!! :mel:
2002 z28 m6 (slp catback) (ls6 intake) (slp airbox)
before my mods i buried the needle while i was racing a 03 cobra with spray......
166 stock. GPS with a tail wind. 01 SS
Ok I'll fess up. I took the 02 up to 145-150 when it was stock with 2.73 gears. Tach was at 4500rpm so I knew it would go faster but being on a public hiway and discretion being the better part of valor I backed out...
I once had the 67 up to ~156. I figured it out knowing the engine rpm, tire diameter and final gear ratio. Suprisingly, the factory rear spoiler starts to push the car down (you can feel it squatting) at ~100 mph...
130 all stock..
130 on my z...
and 140 on another car...
i touch the breaks at that speed and its the last time i will ever do that again...
I hit 150 on the nose in my 94 formula M6 going up a hill. It had 3.73's, a bbk tb, and a cold air intake and that was practically it... I cant imagine what the 01SS I'm getting will do once I get long tubes and a tune:firedevil:
Oh, and I've been 156 on a 09Zx6r. It was like doing 80 in a normal car... I even had a backpack on and it was still smooth(other than the backpack straps beating the hell out of my sides lol).
and yes, never "hit" the brakes at that kind of speed.... I warped a brand new set at 140 once years back... It was drilled and slotted from there.
the day I bought my camaro i was heading home on the interstate.. well needless to say a rustang tried playing with me.. when I was well ahead of him and looked down it was buried at 155.. still had plenty to go and that was completly stock
dont remember my speed on the 1/4 (did it in 14.1 prior to headers and ORY and all the add on that go with it)
ON the autobahn here i did 150mph before i got a little nervous. THe car felt like it was kinda floating. I need new shocks and im at stock heighth. (4x4 lol) Soon il be fixing this with new lowing springs i got and eventully shocks. WIth the autobahn, im getting pasted by audis and BMW atationwagons doing 130+ lol I got passed by a Audi R8 once. :)
I hit 162 in a 99Z. Three days later it went in for total engine replace ( still under waranty...thank god )
You know, I wondered about that.. The two times I topped my car out I wasn't scared of the speed, but more so on how long the engine red-lined until it went into OD
150mph+ a number of times... but on bikes I have been 165+
c5z28..the pistons on the drivers bank hit the head. All valves were bent. Some mains spun, some rod bearings spun. Main webs in the block were cracked. The motor was pulled and replaced. The dealer told me that a rep from GM was sent down to verify the damadge and take the motor back to GM for analysis. Duh...I reved the $h!ya out of it while running a broad in an early maro.
Still freezin my @ss off in Elkhorn. Is that the place over by Frank's?
Your Location is Bamberg, Germany. Are you in the service. I don't remember seeing your ride in town.
yeah, i was in the area for awhile. I went from active to reserves for a while and worked at the shop in elkhorn for almost 2 years from 08 until 10. then i transfered to a unit in Germany. You dont remember seeing a TA with a black hood rolling around there? There was actually two red firebirds in the area with a black hood. One was a formula and the other (mine) was a TA.
I havent seen either one. I have one black 1999z that my son now drives and one silver Y2K z that I just bought for him to drive and me to play with (work on). I had it shipped from Florida but what I thought was a warmed over street car turned out to a full on dragger. So it needs a little work to say the least. They dropped it off right at franks in August but the beast was so loud I only drove it to sentry. Left it there onernight cause half my neighbors are sherrifs.
140mph in the 95 t/a...cold air intake and exhaust delete behine cat.....still had more..but i was scared..
155mph, stock A4 with 2.73s. but only twice or so. i rarely go past 130 anymore.
and yes, my windows pull open at +/-120 ...
155+....with the T-tops off. Not smart, I really wasn't paying much attention to the dash. Was racing a Lightning that kept coming back for more every...single....day...for a solid 2 weeks on my drive home from work. Got tired of him not getting a clue, and this time he showed me a programmer, so I just went through the gears til I couldnt see him in the rearview. Look down and the speedo was buried. I then calmly crapped myself, and slowed back down to speed limit.
155 stock M6 of course on a closed course:bs:
165 top down, mods in sig minus headers, pipes, tune, TB
A little over 140 with the top down. To much wind so I shut it down but it had a lot more
120 on a... closed course! :hide:
Hit the speed limiter racing a supercharged chrystler crossfire. Games called i win haha:cheers:
199 on a garman gps @ 8k rpms. Running a bike. I will not say where. I'll never do that again. BTW I just barely lost. Those Busas are fast. ( in the Supra)
130 with stock setup.
All stock 35th LE with the top down going uphill and I hit 145. Still had more to give but thought that was enough.(My wife loved it)
I've had a few opportunities in the SS, but always run out of road, I need to downshift further. It's always interstate pulls from 80 or so, never from a dig.
Hit 120 the other day though, barely shut it down in time to not run into the cars ahead of me
Bigger? Lol :p
About 160 with just a lid and was still going a little..
The other day reached a pretty good speed of close to 150 with the stock 2.73s. I am sure the speedo is off at that speed however as most cars are and bikes CERTAINLY are without a speedo healer (as much as 15%). Headers, high flow cats, cat back, SLP intake, K&N filter, smooth bellow, 10mm wires. Not a good tune though.
anybodys car sound like a damn jet plane around 130??? its a t-top camaro...
speedometer pointed 155 but still felt the speed gain
Had my car for a couple of weeks, i hit maybe 110
but on a side note a couple years back my dad did a top speed run in his 97 Z28 M6 with only a K&N filter (not intake) buried the speedo at 155 and was still accelerating! i wonder what the real top speed of these cars are :thinkin:
In my current 2001 Formula I hit 125 before running into traffic. It had plenty of power to spare. Im my 1998 Trans Am I hit 110 but it was a convertible and I panicked at the vision of flipping it and getting ejected so I backed off. I had a non-LS1 1979 Trans Am 6.6 403 ci that was bored to 410ci with a bunch of performance parts. The car had 2.41 gears with 245 or 255/70r16 BF Goodrich Radial T/A white letter tires on Cragar S/S rims. They looked great! It was about 5:30 am on a Sunday morning on the long stretch on the Massachusetts turnpike coming down the mountain toward Westfield I hit 145 mph and was turning about 3900-4000 rpms. The front end starting lifing and scared the shit out of me! I pssed 3 state troopers parked in the median and they didn't even bother to pull out. The car was making about 450hp so I know I could have gone much faster.
135 with the ttops of cat back only.
I have an 02 SS with bolt-on's and 3.42's and I backed off at 135 on route 80. I was still in 5th gear with room to go on the tach but not on the road since this in NJ and we have more people then dog crap. I know that gth gear is worthless unless you have the HP to use it.
By the way, if the police are reading this post. This story never happened.
I'll let the speedometer do the talking.........

Did 166 in my old A4 Camaro

I have a problem going fast in my car, I think its a lack of torque
I can never do any high runs from a dig, the only place I have to go fast is a nice stretch of interstate 2 lanes, 2.5 miles, concrete walls on both sides, no shoulder. i always pull from 80 or 90, but I think I need to pull from a gear lower.
In other words, i think im ih too high of a gear for a good top speed run. I shift into 6th at about 110 or 115, and I think maybe that maybe has my RPMs too low to produce the power needed to fight the wind resistance....i can only get to about 120
