I actually found one on the road the other day and he was scared of my stock LS1. I was bummed because I wanted to see how my TA would run against him. I had no GF with me so that was probably why he wouldn't run...

Ran a 12.8 @ 114 mph with full bolt ons, at sea level with 32psi on street tires with half tread with a 2.3 60'. Track prep was decent for what I was running. Haven't ran it yet with H/C, because working out kinks in every part of the car (Ordered wheels but fucking around with tires :yup: ) Should be, thats a big "SHOULD" be 11's all day, I'm no pro of a driver but been driving stick since I was 9 years old on my Dad's lap out in the boonies.
EDIT: Can't afford $5 to run, can't afford gas to get out there :lol:

I have never even hinted the new 5.0 was a better engine then my LS1. But stock it is faster. And when I drove the big 3 (Challenger, Camaro, and Mustang) it was in a BIG way the better car.

I'd like to take a ride in a new stang. My brother had an 85 that I was in love with back then but the changes ford made after then went downhill in a hurry. The last stang I rode in was ~93-94 and it was like riding in a tuna can. It's taken the stang guys 12 years to have a N/A engine that can run with an LS1. Meanwhile GM supercharged an LS series motor and look what it's doing. It would be like me bragging that my 98 LS1 is faster than the 86 GT's stock for stock.....which it is.....by bus lengths.

I think that is arguable too but let's say I give you that. Then we have to factor in that they weren't base GT's which is what we're talking about here. Since there were only base f-bodies then lets look at the LS6 motors in the vettes or even the firehawks. Stock for stock GM wins those races. The only model N/A that would even be a race is the 03-04 mach 1's and even then I think most 98 f-bodies would still take them on the street and you're still talking 5-6 years later.
I haven't heard enough on the streets to definitely say they're gonna win that race everytime. The Camaro is only a Camaro by name...completely different platform. It's closer to a cadillac than an f-body. How many lb's did the new camaro pick up? What would that engine do transplanted into a true f-body?

I think it's also awesome that GM built a car 12 years ago that's still running with cars coming out today. Name another car maker that can make that claim? Not a lot out there. I did race a fox body several years ago here in town. Good close race and the only ground I gained on him was when he would shift until we got up to 3rd gear then I started pulling him. He had a nice lumpy cam and was running skinnies. Nice looking/running car. My mods at the time......stall convertor and headers.

I talked about racing a guy i know who has a 03/04 and over reved right in front of me driving and almost blew his shit up. Where was that directed at the OP or the situation your currently discussing im confused....
The new 5.0 is better than the LS1 in almost every way. Not trying to start a flame war so mods do not hold me responsible if others start turning up the heat.
The fact of the matter is that the new stang is faster,more powerfull, and better refined than the LS1. Other than a nasty motor and sleek looks, I dont really see anything that a WS6/SS has over the 5.0? The t-tops leak, the rear end can be blown apart with STOCK power, headlights dont come up sometimes (TA models), window motors going out. Now as far as engine goes, the LS1 engine can see anywhere from a good 40-50 HP increase with full bolt ons and a tune. I dont even think there are many parts out for the 5.0 yet so I cant say anything.
It should be,considering the Ls1 hasn't been in a production car since 2004.

I dont think there is another car out there today that cost 30k, makes 400+hp all motor, and is under 5.0L. THATS the whole point of my arguement. We can sit here and talk about how great and superior the new GM cars are over the stang or we can actually talk about cars in the same price range.

seen a 2011 shelby in the ford dealerships showroom is the best looking thing in production today besides the Z06 but the shelby had a price tag of 56k over 500HP thats cheaper than a new Z06 might sway that way when the time comes.
Well the cobras are a little bit better of a comparison then some of the others that you mentioned. Point of the matter is that Ford built a car thats faster than the LS1. Doesnt matter if it took them a decade or a day, it still happened. And there is a reason the mustang is still in production today and the T/A and Camaro are not... But thats a differant story.

It is sad that it took ford so long, the fact of the matter is however they didnt have to. The Camaro and Trans am were both more expensive then the Mustang which was more in line with the price of all the import cars that came out to compete with the three. In the end the Trans am and Camaro died a over priced death in 2002. The mustang however now in dealerships is way over priced for a decent gt. More then the new Camaro and only time will tell as to if they make it any faster or lighter to leave the mustang in a cloud of dust again. Many MANY many people have said all it would take is a couple of hundred pounds off the Camaro to make it a million times better car which GM is working towards for next years model. Its the first real year the Maros been back out. Its not going to be at the top of its game in the first batch of them. Ls1 intake- ls6 intake on the ls1 cars as a comparison.

Anytime the words "LS1" and "Mustang" are used in the same sentance, things dont really turn out very well.
Try and go to a lot and get either car for their projected MSRP right now. I think its also been said the interior on the mustangs is nicer then the ones in the Camaro but its not if your having to buy a stripped down version of the stang just to afford it where as you could have bought a loaded SS.
Call me crazy, but I dont think Ford was really competing with GM in the late 90's and early 2k's. If they really wanted to blow away the competition, they could have created a car like the 03/04 cobra before the LS1 even went into the f-bodys.
Mustang have always been a "pony" car not really a full fledged "muscle" car like the T/A and Camaros. Seems like ford was playing their cards pretty well. They obviously knew what the general public wanted and didnt focus too much on the performance aspect like GM did.
People who couldnt afford the Camaro or Trans am bought the Mustangs inless they were just a hardcore ford lover. There was no brand loyalty then either, but you had cars that were just as fast, TT supras, TT rx-7s, TT 300zxs. People buy whats faster, you being on a LS1/ Trans am/ Camaro site shows that as hard as your "Debating" for a 5.0 or Termi. There arent as many choices now as there were back then.
All those cars listed were alot more than any domestic at that time.People do not buy what is faster.The 4th gen sale numbers tell you this....

Dude I was cruising in my LS1 the other day and saw a new 5.0 driving. I got near him and revved and he looked at me with a glance like leave me alone and then he turned off. When I am in my cars driving I like to race anything that is performance oriented. I do like to stir some shit too! I just wanted to see how it would run. Like when I bought my Cobra and took around LSX guys and they were all acting like it wasn't shit but none of them would buck up and run it! I wonder why. People felt threatened from it just like all the guys driving stock to relatively stock LS1's do now. It is a simple case of the hunters becoming the hunted now. The thing that gets me in all of these threads is the constant attitude from some people that act like they have built the car from scratch on their own and that is the reason why it is so great... Please and most of the modded guys (not all) probably didn't even do their own work. Especially when it comes to the tuning. There is no end all be all because the next years model will always have better technology and design.

:suicide: Didn't you read any of the other info I gave besides the 12.8. That was a solid 12.3 or even lower run with just full bolt ons if my 60' was down around 1.9 or so. You stated something without a majority of the facts like temp of day, humidity, why I was running full psi and didn't lower it. Could have lied but don't do that crap, who does it help, no one. That run was 4 years ago (HOLY SHIT! I just thought about that, its already been 4 years since I raced at the track :suicide: ) I ran 4 times that day with no ability to hook regardless of my fooling around with launching. The tires were SumoHomo's, ask Mr. Luos how well those tires are, even for a great driver. Last but not least, wasn't talking shit to anyone, stating facts and opinions.
