Anyway I got a chance to hear these recently.

I was big in these, built a few. I tried getting some info from a member to help him out, but there was a bunch of PM issues. Don't know if he got what I sent or vice verso.
Currently we have an 65 inch 1080P hooked up to a 5.1 old Yamaha system. With a Sony Bluray player... This will be going in our hanger next year.

I have a Yamaha 5.1, but I just orderded a Denon AVR-590 that will do HDMI, can't wait!!! Unfortunatley, it's on back order, but I gotta get that straightened out. It's 5.1 as well, it's got some amazing features, can't wait till it gets to my place. I'll be home in a couple weeks too.

I also use a HTPC now, it'll play anything up to 1080p and it looks amazing, usually I cruise LS1.com or pretty much do anything I want on my tv.
It's a 46" LN46A550 from Samsung, wish I would of gotten the 52". Who knows, I might get a projecter some day, but I've never seen a high quality projector anything close to my setup. No one around here gives a fuck about HT.....I love it though.

Running an Onkyo receiver to Athena Technologies speakers. Two floorstanders (AF-S2) and center channel (AF-C1). I have surround bookshelves, but no good place to put them, so they're collecting dust.
I built my subwoofer. Tempest 15" using Adire Audio design. This thing rocks the house. The box is huge and doesn't work with the current setup, so I'm redesigning a new box; something a little more stealth and integrated into the entertainment center.
1080p is good for gaming though, but I agree. Even 720p is awesome.Quote:

I am fixing up my basement to put in a home theater... I was thinking about getting the 73" dlp.
That is the way to go man, I could not be more happier with mine. What are you going to use for audio? What are the demensions of the room? Is this a dedicated room HT room your planning etc? Depending on the size a front PJ might be the way to go........Quote:

Big ole magnet on it. The bad thing about my sub build is that size of the box. 8 cu. ft. 2x2x2. Massive thing. Weighs about 75 lbs, at least. Pain in the ass to move around. I originally painted it a satin black, but resurfaced it with a cherry veneer a couple years ago. It's just too big to go anywhere. It's sitting in the garage right now and is about #24 on the list of things to do.

I love my setup, yep those are the HT-88s, with 8 inch drivers and they sound amazing. I have only used the tv speakers once or twice just to compare what I'm missing.
It's hard to believe, when I get my Denon installed it's going to sound even better because of the mic that's included. It'll bascially optimize the sound through calibration and determining how far away the speakers are and such. I think it's called "Audyssey Eq"

I don't have much to add, besides I'm almost positive my Samsung TV is going out. It will seriously take upwards to 5 minutes to turn on sometimes. It will sit there and make an audible "click". I had to just unplug it last night because it "clicked" all night. Sucks, I love that TV. I need to get speakers, because the stockers start cackling in the upper volumes.

I am not sure what level of difficulty it is to replace the power supply, or hell, even what it costs (few hundred I would guess). It you can nab one up though for relatively cheap it sure would be worth a shot. You seem like you're pretty handy with shit.Quote:

One word of advice though......when the power supply does go bad, it can damage other internal parts to the television. If this is the case, if you do replace the power supply, it may go out again. This isn't the case all the time, but it would be a risk.

I would call the repair guys in your area and tell them the model you have they will know what the problem is because it is probably common. It was a common problem with the first generation Panasonic plasma's.
If I remeber right it's approximately 60 bucks for the part and 1 hour labour. Don't freaking open up a tv unless you know what you are doing it usually keeps a voltage charge in them and could hurt you if you touch something you shouldn;t
I hope that you are lucky and yopu never knoiw and might be a resistor freaking up something simple call a shop and ask the questions to see if it's common
