I am missing you bad Cammed, I am getting ass raped at work.The one new guy didn't come in today so we wer 2 guys short. and 1 guess who was up my ass all day.....

him: well we are getting another bay put in up here then we will hook up the balancer.

WOW!!! He STILL doesn't get it. He has NO efficiency skills. He relies on his employees to keep him in business. If he sells tires he doesn't have, he will blame the tire guys regardless of the BOSS having to keep track of inventory. NOTHING is EVER his fault as far as he is concerned. He may bitch and whine about the shop crew, but HE is the ROOT of the problem. All I know is once I get back into automotive, and I see my old customers from that old shop, I am letting everyone know what that @$$hole is about. When I had my interview at STS and the manager asked me why I left Bergen Tire, I gave the manager an EARFUL. From the failure to honor tire warranties to the threats of firing me if I refused to go in on my day off to the lies he would tell the customers to keep them going back to him. He is a BULLSH!T ARTIST...plain and simple.

Let me put it this way...the boss would NOT deliver on his promises to his employees or his customers. Last I heard, he was losing his fleet accounts. When I work on a car, I treat is as if it were mine. I leave NO stone unturned. Everything I see, I document. The boss would just try to make me do half-@$$ work, which Cuervo and myself didn't, and the boss bitched that we were thorough. I am just worried that the boss will let a car go that needs dire repairs and it will cost a customer their life.

i feel ya. i'm required to sell the customer whatever they want to make them happy...even if that means selling things that are illegal such as when the customer demands compression fittings for his brake lines or even worse when the dumb bitch wanted a piece of rubber hose and 2 hose clamps to fix her brake lines. by law i could be fined...by corporation i could be fired.

sorry, I am not buying it. there is no way in hell someone would talk to their boss like that. Esp in this economy. if I was your boss, I would fire your ass right on the spot.

These were chrome rims on an 93 BMW 325 is the chrome was peeling off due to the corrosion so I ttok my 4.5" grinder to it.

Another one after i finished the bmw was that the other tire tech fixed a flat on a toyota highlander. some you can reset the tpms others you have to drive

Cammed fought for nearly 2 years to get his day off again. he went way longer than that on 6 days a week when he finally got fed up with it the boss didn't want to let him have it. Let me put it this way...if I have to fix or replace a tire, and I take the wheel/tire off the car, and I see the brakes on that axle are low, I am going to let the customer know right there. The boss will NOT inform the customer if the boss isn't in the mood. That won't wash with me. I would rather tell the customer right there they need brakes and be happy with letting them know than keeping the hazardous situation to myself and risk being sued. The boss occasionally feels things like this aren't worth his time. Truly sad.

the wife has an interview next wed for a sub teacher job in a catholic school in paterson. I am hoping she gets it and actually gets hired full time instead.
Maybe she will make enough where I can leave and do stuff around the house that I fell behind on. and just work a P/T job or something

I am waiting to hear back from STS. I think they tried calling me last Wed night after I got home from TTP(I dunno if it was them either). I assume STS is running my background check, which I always pass as I have no life, just work and home, haha. The manager from STS seemed interested about my length of employment with Sears(5 years of service) and asked me why I left. I told him that I wanted more money as I was a tire tech/team leader but I wasn't paid to be a team leader which is like an upper management position, but no added pay and I wanted my ASE and at the time, it wasn't possible with Sears. My at the time Union rep from UA274 called me and offered me a job which started ASAP and I left Sears. Too bad Unions lay off apprentices. When I told him(manager for STS) he seemed shocked.

Interviewer: So, how many years have you been in the automotive field?
Me: 14 years.
Interviewer: SO...YOU AREN'T ASE?
Me: Unfortunately no...but I want it.

Not for nothing, but from what I learned, an employer at an auto shop always NEEDS you to a point..... Till they find another warm body to fill your spot. With the economy the way it is, theres plenty of guys that need jobs that are willing to take yours. I totally understand sticking up for yourself and not letting a boss walk all over you, but I would be careful about how far I pushed it if i were you. Are you like the lead tech in the shop? Unless you are the guy doing all the big jobs and banging out 70 hrs a week, with a wife and kids i'd be more careful bro

Dude that doesnt even make sense. Not only is it a moral thing, brakes are the easiest bread and butter job a shop and mechanic can have. Easy fucking money. Why the hell wouldnt you wanna sell brakes? Any time you get authorization to pull wheels you should be looking at the brakes. Be proactive, get yourself some easy hours. Your boss has the worst business accumen i've ever heard of if he has a problem recommending a brake job. Like you said, if you dont say anything and they crash, gets who's ass is now on the line? Not the customers, not your bosses. YOURS!

No they aren't. I applied for a job in the pipefitter's union, which required me to leave Sears as the union had a job for me and they needed me immediately. Being in HVAC was fun, but the layoffs...not so much.

I just realized alot of my friends are all mellow because they have been on meds for years, which I just started. I'm a little better now, but still way crazy compared to your average person. Has helped my concentration and grades immensely though. I take care of about a 2 state radius with my adhd craziness

no he NEEDS me,let me explain.While I am not the lead tech I see more of a car than them.for example if a car comes in for an oil change and rotation.I check the belts hoses look at the milage and see if it is due for a tune up,timing belt ect. when I lift it i wiggle or try to anyway the wheels to see if there is play. when the wheels are off i check the brakes, brake lines ,axel boots look for bent parts and so on. I can not tell you how much money I have made for the techs and boss because of this. I was trained by my boss's BEST tech at a different store so I know what to look for,what to reccomend on certain cars at certain milage. If it was left to the techs some of the jobs wouldn't be reccomended. I don't know if it is laziness,or they don't like doing them or what. without me though there was many weeks the techs would be standing around with their thumbs up their asses costing the boss money thus causing me not to get a raise.

they are strange ,no offence to the ladies here but their minds changes more than a womans when she is picking clothes to wear for a date. one day they want you to look for anything and everything the next is get it in and out don't look for anything.that can also be by the hour or minute. That is why cammed and I wrote every damn thing we seen down, to cover our asses.to an extent I hated that because the boss is caniving enough to use that to cover his ass as well.

I guess I suffer from the guardian angel syndrome. One morning I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee on my lift for an oil change and tire rotation. The front rotors were severely grooved and the pads were completely gone. Top it all off with a "BABY ON BOARD" sign on the back window and I ran up front and told the boss in front of the customer. Boss came back and looked and told me he "didn't think the brakes were that bad" then I showed him the sign on the back window and he quickly changed his tune. It was like my word meant squat there.

I predict a lot more people are going to be learning how to turn a wrench in the near future. who the fuck cant even change brakes?

done stuff simular.My wifes friend had a ford exploder that I had to do ball joints(yea cammed the one I smashed my thumb on and you laughed until you seen I was gushing blood ) ,tires,and 4wheel drive service to. stuff that would have been hard to do in my driveway. meanwhile she also needed shocks,oil change,a gas cap(kept throwing the check engine light on)air filter brakes ,and some other stuff. I kept my mouth shut until my lunch then called up her husband and told him what it needed besides what it was there for. he asked how much I said whatever it costs you for parts plus my labor which will be a hella lot cheaper than doing it here. we sat up a day and time and I went and done everything that was left in a few hours and he tossed me a 150 bucks.

done it with a few others cars as well,when money is tight and the boy has needs there is no shame :lol:

From what I heard, companies are closing their accounts with him and going to other shops. I refused to let a car out of my bay without the customer knowing the condition of their vehicle. Hell, that shop doesn't even have liability waiver forms, which the boss told me he would get, but he never did.

what about the exploder that has 2 baby seats in the back that the entire front end was ready to fall off,the brakes were gone and the tires was so dryrotted they were ready to explode. that we kept getting in. The thing about that was the boss tried ,but the customer refused. Someone made a phonecall :whistle: next time I seen it it was all done :lol:

I remember when the boss screamed at me for "costing him money". He has NO conscience. I told him if anyone came back with a news crew I was pointing him out. That shop is the ONLY one I have worked for that didn't have liability forms. Every other shop had them and adhered to MAP guidelines.

Its a state law the MSDS has to be easily accessible, along with an eye wash, and the disposal of chemicals like motor oil and engine coolant has to meet code and be near a door i believe. You also need a certain amount of up to date fire extinguishers in the shop too. OSHA is supposed to do inspections of the place. You can always just anonymously call osha and have them come inspect the place. I do that to bosses that piss me off at shops I know will fail the tests. It drives the managers crazy.

we don't have a MSDS easily accessable,if we do I don't know about it.
we don't have eye wash,that I know of
what about new oil? we have 2 700 gallon tanks near the door between the showroom/office and the shop but about 25 ft or so from the bay door. The used oil ,and antifreeze along with the washerfluid,new antifreeze and trans fluid is near the bay door though. don't get me going on my bay.which is seperate from the main shop.

Any other regs you know? all will be helpful in nabbing this bastard once and for all. I know the bench grinder is supposed to have toolrests and guards, which ours don't.Is the shop supposed to hand out safteyglasses and hearing protection? I am more suseptable(spelling?) to hearing loss due to i work right next to the air compressor. I bet if I was there when the gov't org.s showed up I could point out alot that they would miss.

yup, almost got hurt a couple times because of that. now I simply don't use it. I use a regular old fasioned wire brush or my 4.5" grinder which has a sheild and a handel.

I am curious to know what would happen if they decided to take soil samples around the building. Who knows what the have done before Cammed and I got there.

1 boss didn't get a liceanse to have it installed in the first place

2 boss didn't have it inspected

Nothing happened today,all was calm until later the boss was off today. Usually he comes in the morning and stays until noon or so,today though he just came in briefly with a neighbors vette to have the tire pressures checked.

all of that was with huge calmness which is surprising concedering the day I had . 1 guy called in sick,1 went home at 1,another left at 4 and the last that wasn't me left at 4:30 I started freaking out very early in the day because i had several huge stacks of tires in my area and very little room.With several tire jobs on my board. The bosses brother came back and we had a little chat where I laid it all on the line how I panic over stupid stuff like that sometimes,that I have adhd that I am not using it as an excuse but letting him know so he will understand why i do things the way I do, work slower at times ect. he asked why I wasn't on meds and i told him the reason . It was a very productive long chat,all while he was helping me out. he even came out later after we was done with the waiters and helped me get the scrap tires out. I really wish he would take over the buisness it would be a much better place and I wouldn't mind so much.I am also sure Cammed would have stayed if that was the case.

Donnie called in, he looked horrible yesterday and was coughing alot, oy vey left at one for whatever reason, the new guy leaves at 4 everyday because of his second job and of course "bucky" left at 4:30. It was a bit chaotic and I started getting aggrivated when the owners cousine came in with the garbage filled stinking jeep needing a headlight. I had a car on the lift already gettin ready to drop it and put the spare in. the damn headligh assy,. ,didn't want to pop out so I could do the bulb.Finally got that out and then we had the right bulb number but wrong type. it takes a 9006 xs not a reg 9006. so I had to walk down the road and grab one. get it together,run back to the other car finish it off the LOCK DOWN I AM DONE :lol:

I still worry about Donnie. I will never forgive the boss for telling him to "step it up" after Donnie was out recovering from a heart attack.

OOOO mike jr asked jerry when he was setting the christmas party when jerry went to drop the checks off at 23. Jerry said "I'm not, after your uncle stabbed me in the back 3 times I won't go, he can go f**k himself". You know that will get back ,Jerry might be fired then I will be expected to do deliveries and such as well. which is where I will draw the line. Lately jerry has stayed on the road almost all day makeing pick ups and deliveries to and from 23 preakness and OCTA. not to mention picking up tires from the various warehouses to take to them places. If I was to open a buisness it would be more along the line of furniture making ,landscaping or farming. which I love all 3. have the buisness large enough to live off of but small enough I can do it by myself or the wife and son(when he is old enough of course)

Sounds somewhat like the shop I just left. The service manager is a d-bag and they could really use a good replacement. I stayed their for 4 years and finally found another job, that payed much better. Might have been luck but I could always go back into the auto field with my experience and ASEs. They have a good group of techs, just a bunch of dumb asses running the place. I hope to build my own shop in January, working on the ground blows, LOL.

one of those you-pick raspberry farms would make a shitload of money. Then, you get a pond and stock it with fish and charge the kids to rent fishing poles to catch fish while they pick raspberries. Im talking like 1000 dollars per acre. You wouldnt even have to do much harvesting.

nah more along the lines of some livestock,veggie gardens and fruit trees. that way what we don't eat or can be sold at a farmers market. may do a combo of the 3 do the farming,have a greenhouse and sell flowers and make furniture. Like most southerners jack of all trades master of none.Seriously I do have mad skills in alot of things.Opens up the prospects a bit
