hey Mark, what did you have max boost set at last year and how much are you running on the new setup?
I can't wait to actually get a look at your setup in person.
Justin, you don't want tall gears under boost.....you get more power, but it comes on at a ramp rate, where Bills car is like hitting a light switch.....instantanious full on power
correct me if I'm wrong, but the thought behind the final gearing is the lower gear lugs the motor more and for longer in each gear to build more boost.....right?
I run the 3.50 ratio to keep RPMs in 3rd reasonable at the traps. It goes thru at about 6100 at 133mph. The boost is not actually controlled like with a turbo, is a function of engine size, blower rpm & restriction in the motor. I have the same pullies on it as last year & expect slightly lower boost as a result of more displacement.
i still dont get it... if my car with your old DRs can get one tire every and 2 once in a while why dont u... hell im a stick car still and im running stock shocks and tq arm, and only hooking at 3800 on the line o well there's probably a reason but im still lost.. unless ur tq curve is not @4000 rpm and some how mine makes more... yet im running a 3.89 gear and dont have 100lbs of blower and roll cage, now an iron block... at the same time i dont under stand why my buddy in his 11.4 camaro dont pullem up.. but he needs an air bag or a drag sway bar...
The auto is softer than bangin a stick, won't jerk the front as much. Pic below is hitting 2nd with the old M6
