I’ve never messed around with an opti spark, but in the position its in behind the water pump and the close proximity each lead has to other I can see a lot of problems. I would at least look there before spending money on sensors. But even if the its not the opti spark depending on the miles, where the car is keep and if the water pump is leaking, its probably not a bad idea to change it any way.
not to descredit that point I think that would be an excellent plan (given the pocket book can support it) optispark is pretty expensive.
!!! if you have a fuel pressure tester disconnect the vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator see if there is enough pressure, i know for an l98 its 42-45 psi, check see what the pressure is for a lt1. a bad regulator of pump would effect the engine at WOT.
you can totally do away with the opticrap now......there is a system out there called optidirect I think it is......elminates the need for one.......do a google search on it.....made by deltech I believe....I've seen it in GM High Performance......I'm about 99.99 percent sure it's got to do with your opti.....it certanly isn't your MAF....
i like that one, i am going to try to get it this weekend.
does anybody know someone that has used that setup before, it seems like a lot of different things can go wrong with it?
All I can tell you is there was a write up in GM about it and it said simply that it will end your opti problems forever.....basically in the end what you have is a system like the LSX motors have as far as coils and such go........if I can find the month it was written up I'll let you know........

Hey just came across your thread and took a look in my repair manual just to see what it would say under "lacks power". Its got a nice big list of stuff for you to check:
--Incorrect ignition timing
--Faulty Distributor Cap, wires, etc
--Faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs
--Dirty air filter (if only that simple)
--Sparking timing control system not operating properly
--Faulty Ignition coil(s)
--Brakes Binding
--Auto tranny fluid level incorrectly causing slippage
--clutch slippage
--fuel filter clogged and or impurities in the system (obviously not since u fixed it)
--EGR not functioning properly
--substandard fuel
--low or uneven cylinder compression pressures
--Air leak at intake manifold or plenum
some of you guys are experts and such im just trying to help, hope you figure it out. I hate it when somethings wrong but you cant figure it out... good luck
