I'm just wondering if this is normal or does it indicate some sort of problem.
If you look at the underside of my hood on the engine bay side. Theres a semi-big black streak going across it horizontally. Does this indicate some sort of problem or is it semi-normal? I haven't tried cleaning it to see if it occurs again. It does not seem to be growing.

Do you use some sort of dressing on your upper radiator hose?

Just clean it and make sure it's not oil or something coming up form the engine. Most likely, it's just road grime. I use quick detailer and a rag to clean mine.

Its just grime thrown up from the belts, nothing to worry about its especially bad on lighter colored cars.
