I want to remove the side moldings on my Z, but I'm worried about the glue under them. I peeled back a little bit of one of the molds and it looks too thick like it wont come off. I thought about goo gone but I'm also worried about removing my paint. O yea I was also wondering if the paint under the moldings would be darker due to the sun not getting to it.
i was thinking the exact same idea...when ever you get your next retouch..just make sure to tell the painter to take it off,thats what i did...

Your car is black. It should not be an issue. The glue will come off with 3M adhessive remover, but it will take some work. Make sure that your car has never been repainted because some shops will take short-cuts by not removing the molding and painting over it.

thats what happened to me. I found some runs under mine, but it looked better because my car was missing a couple of trim pieces when I got it.
they also make a eraser wheel that you can put on a drill that will pull it right off easy without hurtin the paint
i have a pewter car and with the help of a heat gun, most of the adhesive came off with the moldings. the rest of the adhesive i removed with goo-gone. the car looks much cleaner without the moldings.

I need to take those moldings off my SS but I'm always working on something else. And I keep thinking they might save the car in my parking lot at work some day.
i used a hairdryer on mine and goo gone, but man it was rough getting that glue off

this is easy? just like stated use your thumb to remove the glue

I keep mine on. On black cars the side molding doesnt show up as bad as other colors. Mine saved me a dent in the side at least once that I know of.
