Can anyone help? I have a 96 Impala SS that has a code of P1870 indicating the transmission is slipping. Does anyone know how I can repair the trans without replacing the transmission? Any help would be great. Thanks

Saw your other post, I'd PM the guy too since it's from last year. In the meantime I found this for the 5.7: www.ls2.com/boggs/a4/DTC%20P1870%205.8.htm
2001NBMZ28,
Thank you for your reply. I will look at the site and see if I can follow instructions on how to check trans.
A TFP Valve Position Switch malfunction could set DTC P1870.
The following mechanical conditions could set DTC P1870:
A mechanical failure of the shift solenoid valves
A mechanical failure of the TCC Solenoid Valve
A mechanical failure of the TCC PWM Solenoid Valve
Internal transmission failures may set a DTC P1870.
An engine, misfire may erroneously set a DTC P1870.
Ensure that the final drive ratio matches the PCM's calibration.
A PRNDL DTC may falsely set DTC P1870.
