IIRC it's 78mm
^^ Sounds right.
Personally, I would recommend a stock LS6 over a BBK intake.
:yep: Nothing but nightmares in fitment.
I had a 96mm Professional Products intake which is similar to the BBK and I sold it for a FAST 102 because the fitment was horrible on it and it required rtv just to not leak around the injector ports, runners, etc. I would highly suggest a LS6 intake if you don't want a FAST 102 over the BBK.
If I had to go aftermarket, then it would be the new FAST 92 mm that comes in black... but only if I could get myself to swallow the $900 plus price tag.
what would be a good suggested throttle body for a stock ls6 intake ?
I wiped out a wrist pin the motor was pulled and had to do a small bore to a 353 to fix the damage. added a set of long tube headers and a 3" y pipe . if any of that helps in directing me In the right direction on the intake manifold and throttle body
also made a custom aluminum pipe to replace the accordion style plastic tube connecting the ram air box to the motor
Still running the stock TB on ours. I see a lot of guys running Nick Williams without any complaints or issues.
also will I need to replace the mas for a larger TB
You can pick up good ported TB's on Ebay cheap.
Look for the place that has a chick with a big rack holding the TB or PM me for the name.
Stock MAF will support up to around the 500 hp level. Most people use a Fernco adapter to mate the MAF to the larger throttle body while others delete the MAF completely and run a speed density tune.
Ok so I ran across a great deal and snagged a bbk ssi 85mm intake with a matching 85mm bbk throttle body and a jet 85mm maf with new intake gaskets still sealed in box that was bought for a build till they had money problems got it all for $600
^^ Pics of the install, please, when it happens. :)
I've got the BBK intake, installed it about a year ago. No leaks but I did run into issues with the coolant lines under the intake. Since it was a Saturday night and I had no time to get the LS6 conversion parts I made my own. Basically had to eliminate the pipes that go under the intake. I tried to smash them down flatter, still would not clear. I think they also shorted me some fasteners. Don't forget to loctite the fasteners on the bottom of the intake, I hear they can come loose.
BTW I called BBK and complained, figured their engineers might want to know. They offered me some lame discount on my next part.
