I changed both of my belts this week end and now I have an annoying squeal :growl: that is on the passenger side. With headers its kinda hard to zero in on it.
When at idle I don't hear it, however when you rev up it gets worse. I'm thinking it is the tensioner. But which one? The Serpentine or the A/C?
Any help would be nice.

Usually after a belt change and you get a squeal as you describe...it is a pulley. Could be the tensioner.....gotta locate it....I use a 36" piece of a old broom handle. Sum bitch is better than a stethoscope.
i was having this same problem recently and i changed ever pulley tensioner and belt that i could. come to find out in the end it was my water pump going out and dripping on the belts.

No...on the bolts holding the pulleys.....put the end on something stable as close to the suspected part as you can...you'll know when you find it.

No, you put one ear on the end of the screwdriver and the other end of the screwdriver on the suspect piece. Noise travels thru the long object and you listen and hear which one is making the noise.
I have a phone on a 2 foot long piece of metal SOMEWHERE in this hell hole of a garage and sarge and the others are right.
I had a pully bolt come out at 85k miles on my Mountaineer 5.0 and the pully was nicking the fan. What a treat that was!
We are talking hearing enhancement here. You can pin point where the noise is coming from as the wood, directly placed, will amplify the noise and allow you to hone in on the exact spot it is coming from.Quote:
