Roads around here are notoriously terrible for riding. South Eastern PA has just terrible roads for laying into corners on. We have highways though, where its pretty common to find quite a bit of open road in front of me. Also, not sure how big you are, but I'm a bigger guy (Average size for a pro rider is in the 150lbs range), and the bigger bike just "feels" better under me. With enough time, effort, and especially $, my 600 would even be straight line faster than my friend's 750 - without the need to stretch and lower it. I just don't like being left behind when the road opens up, and since the nearest road cource is 100 miles away, and the nearest drag strip is 15, I am much more likely to find myself at the strip than the course.
Also - Flyinpastu - I'd be needing your bike, plus a fair amount of cash for my car, and in truth, if I'm trading my car for a bike, it is very likely going to be something of the current generation. So, someone who bought themselves a new 1000, had it for 1800 miles, scared the crap out of themselves, and decided they'd keep their fast toys limited to things with 4 wheels.
