Starting problem.

I hope that I am in the right section.

I've got a 98 Formula with 5.7L

However my problem is when I go to start the car after it is hot.

Has anyone seen a problem where the car takes a while to start on the hot starts?

There is no problems on the cold starts. nor is there a problem if the car is running and I shut it off and start it within ten minutes. But after the ten minute mark the engine has a problem starting. Just rolls over alot before starting and sometimes I get the smell of gas once it starts.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

It could be alot of things. To me, it sounds like it could be a cam or crank sensor thats on it way out. Do you have any trouble codes stored.?

No lights coming on saying that there are any problems. Is it possible that a code could get stored without any lights coming on?

If it is cam or crank sensor. What would be the best way to test to find out?

yes sometimes.
Best way to diagnose is to scan for codes. Then run a few tests for spark, fuel pressure, and fuel injector drive. That'll help narrow it down to what system isn't working when it doesn't start right away.

Thanks for the info.

It gives me a place to start. Now to find a place with reasonable price for me to get some new tools. lol
