Blue- 2002 Z28 Camaro M6
Almost cam time
I am getting close enough to installing a cam that I would like to get some input and doing a bit more research into what cam and other goodies I will be putting in the Camaro soonish. The plan so far is to install:
Ported LS6 Oil Pump
LS2 timing chain
LS7 caddy lifters
Comp hardened pushrods
PRC dual springs with titanium retainers
A custom grind cam
226/226
.585/.585
112 lsa
Have I missed anything or does anyone have suggestions especially for the cam, or something that would be a better upgrade. Please remember this will be a DD that sees at least 1000 miles a month.
Right now the car is a stock internal 2002 LS1 M6 with LTs, true dual exhaust, and a lid.

If you are going to add heads later, do the lifters then.
Make sure you get the size pushrods the grinder recommends. Some blanks actually like 7.425" pushrods because the base circle is a little smaller than stock.

Good point about just waiting for the lifters. I just know it will take me a while to get heads on this beast since I am going to want a rear end and clutch before heads. I was planning on waiting for the grinder to recommend what length of pushrods to use.
Did I ?

Very possible that I did leave something else out though. Luos or NHRA do you have any thoughts on the cam ?
Also will the PRC dual springs be to much since they are rated up to .660 lift ?

Comp 918s (single coil) will handle that cam, PRC duals are kinda overkill but will be extra insurance seeing as how many miles you'll be putting on the car. If you're gonna use the duals, why not just go with the TSP "off the shelf" 228 cam? http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=167&catid=44 It uses the XER lobes.

btw 918 had that problem with a recall of springs breaking... redid the formula... i personally wouldnt wanna be one of the first few to test the new ones...but im sure they will be alright

why a 226 and not a 228? is the car still a DD for you after a new cam goes in...? should boast a mild bump in performance for you. heads would really plant you in your set. if you have the money for heads, do it since you are wanting to remove the heads to upgrade the lifters. you have them out so why the hell not...
if you do heads, you dont need to worry about upgrading the valvetrain since it will already been done for you (just lifters)...

I like the choice of cam for a DD.
Not a large cam by any means, but it will drive very nicely and have a great powerband.

Thank you all for the replies. I have been waffling over the idea of either getting a 228 or a 226 mostly because I want something that will still be a great DD and I want to keep a nice strong power band (similiar to how SSwt00SS's looks or like mine just with the bar raised ). Unfortunatly heads are out of the question for a while, the rear end will have to come before that, but they are planned.
The reasoning behind the PRC dual springs was just the insurance of dual springs and .660 lift was the weakest spring I could find.
