Whats a good setup for curves?
I'm curious as to what a good setup would be for taking corners. I dont really care about drag racing as much as I do cornering. Suggestions?

Shocks first, good tires, and call Sam Strano at Strano Performance Parts, they have a site, and Sam will be able to guide you with your setup. He has a ton of experience setting up F-body`s, and transformed my car from stock, into the best handling car I have ever driven.

Seriously though I just want a car that handles well around corners. I dont really care about drag racing. What parts are for corners and what parts are for drag racing?

Here is a couple of threads by yours truely for mods to go around curves faster:

There are allot of parts available but it all depends what you want out of your car.
e.g. street car for the twisties or a full CMC race car?

let's start by saying where you presently are.
Is your car completely stock ?
if not, what changes have been done to it ?Eugenio_SS
almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

what's your budget, then ?
I'd say definitely shocks, maybe springs (depending on what you want) and a front swaybar.
Once that done, a good alignment is due... and wouldn't spend more $ on the suspension at least for awhile.
If anything, improved brakes and spend $-time on the driving, not the car.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
I had koni's and thought they were way too harsh for a street car. My new car is being built with the following and I told them exactly the same thing " i want to live through the curves, i don't care about the track"
Double adj QA1s
BMR 325lb springs
35mm front swaybar
strut tower brace
adjustable panhard bar
subframe connectors
AND REALLY GOOD BRAKES
i'd suggest a tq arm too
[I killed one car in the curves allready, i'm not losing another]

the stock torque arm is flimsy-when your sitting there in neutral, gun your throttle-you'll notice the engine actually twists. With an aftermarket tq arm-it prevents that twist from occuring and channels that lost HP to the wheels.
the panhard bar keeps the rear end centered-a stiffer/adjustable one is useful for lowering applications

You really thought that koni dampers were to harsh? You know they are adjustable right? You could have set them two sweeps softer and evaluated your ride. Then if it was not enough repeat.
I really do not think that the koni's were the problem when you crashed the batmobile.
I hope that the QA1s work out for you as they are mostly a drag shock and are not really ment for curves.

I know the koni's weren't to blame, but I hear the qa1's are way easier to adjust.

you definately want some Koni S/As...d/as are too much for a DD (non track car) and blow out faster b/c they are meant to be3 rebuilt and revalved after a race. you def want a double rod ended PHR (not bmr's; bad design and breaks). LCAs are optional, if your doing a lot of track stuff, go ahead and do double rod ended lca's, but for the street they are unnecessary and will mke your ride harder and louder (if anything jus get 1le lca's). springs....this all depends on how low you want it, and how firm you want it. Strano makes a very nice set of springs (that are light and save you unsprung weight) that are perfect for DD, canyone carving, auto-x, etc..hell, people are even drag racing on them. Stranos hollow 35 front 22rear bars are also a very good set of sway bars and are light (hollow; saves you unsprung weight)
stb are unnecessary, and sfc's are unnecessary
reasoning: stb, has been proven to do nothing (on our cars) except add weight that you don't need. but they do make for a good brace to lean on while working under the hood
sfc's are unnecessary b/c they add weight to the car. if you have a good spring/shock combo it defeats the purpose of them b/c they will be doing the same thing
a tq arm isn't really that necessary either for street driving
to an above poster: if you want to handle better, QA1s are not the shocks for him, they are a drag racing shock (yes they aer adjustable, but its not what he needs)
hope this helps
