    Powder coated rotors

Thinking about buying a new set of rotors and powder coating them....I saw someone on here do it awhile back....any advice?

If your talking about the center section that pads don't touch then yes you should do it because it looks good and helps with the rust look. If your talking where the pad hits the rotor then obviously no because the pads will take it right off almost instantly and you will have crap all over your wheels.

I agree! I was kinda confused about the question and thought about OP meaning Zinc. I have seen people powder coat the center of the rotor though so it doesn't look like rust and crap

Well I've seen people coat the whole thing, then let the pads grind it off on the braking surface, so you have a coating over the whole surface

Why would you put anything where the pad needs to bite? I would think that would seriously jack up your braking ability.

    Just paint them..

Not worth the time or money to powdercoat the stockers..

    Agreed 1000%

Typically, the stockers are warped within 10k miles. I would not waste a dime on powdercoating stock GM rotors.

Whoa....puttin words in my mouth guys....

Here was my plan, buy aftermarkets, powder coat them, install, drove around the block to grind it down to clean off the braking surface. Then replace the pads.

I figured doing that would get me a perfect edge so that I'd never have any rust

I don't think that the powdercoat would grind off that quick nor would you be able to stop that well.

you will be able to stop just fine and the pads would be just fine too all you would get is shit all over your wheels.

So it miraculously grinds off the powdercoat ,a notoriously strong coating, with the brake pads and it won't get stuck in the pad but it will get all over the wheels? Hell, the anti-rust coating on new rotors will affect braking if you don't clean it off.
