Navy Blue Metallic- 1998 Trans Am
T56 conversion
Ok guys. Ive started my t56 conversion in my 98 trans am. I have a t56 out of an 06 GTO. I know I need a gto starter and a different shifter cup to make it work with the fbody. I have questions about the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and all those goodies. Do i need to purchase a clutch kit for a trans am or a gto? or does it matter? Also My transmission didnt come with the reverse lockout solenoid or the reverse light sensor. Not just the connectors but the actual thing that goes into the transmission. Where can i find these? Also can anyone help make the wiring easier? break it down for me?
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

I don't think there are any differences between clutches for the GTO and T/A. If you are going from A4 to M6, then you will need the wiring harnesses from an M6 T/A as I think the GTO and T/A both use a Tremec. Others will assist.

Also, i need to replace the input shaft. Since the tranny is out of an 06 GTO, do i need a GTO input shaft or can i use a trans am input shaft?

I don't know if you can swap the input shafts from the GTO and T/A.

Check our sponsors to do some cross referencing for the T/A clutch and GTO clutch to see if they both use the same part number. Can't hurt.
