Why is there a screw there?
I had my throttle body ported and polished by shaner in other words it is a Shaner S3. Any how I was just curious as to why there is a screw in it and if I should remove it?~Chris p.s. below is a pic..............
2000 Arctic White trans am, ws6 hood, ws6 air box, slp lid, slp smooth bellows, slp loudmouth exhaust,shift kit, rebuilt trans, LS6 intake, 3.73 gears, Shaner S3 p/p throttle body, and a tune . SFC. C6 ZO6 rims 18" in back 17" in front. Drilled and slotted rotors.

the throttle body i have(not stock) has stops for open and closed. you can adjust how open it is at WOT and at idle. i didnt have those on my stock one though.

Shaner does the bump stop mod for WOT so that the throttle blades opens to a full 90 degrees. If he grinds the stop down too far or gets a core TB back with that same issue, then he needs to put a screw in there to make the stop adjustable and set it at 90 degrees.
Leave the screw in there. You can take the TB off and open the butterfly all the way if you wanna inspect/adjust it.

with the car shut off, have someone step on the gas all the way to WOT. look at the throttle body and see how flat the blade is. you want the blade to be as level as possible to get the best airflow in. if the blade isnt level, take the screw out and check again.

Ok thanks for the input fellas when I get around to it I will check it. Anyone else with suggestions???

the reason is that if the tb opens more then 90deg, then it will set off a ses code, so like it said in a previos post either he ground it too far, or the core he got already was ground too far, or for some reason he has started to make them adjustable, you can take the screw out and with the car off see if the throttle blade opens up past the 90 deg, if it does then you have your answer. if it opens to 90 def or less then technically you can take the screw out if you dont want it adjusted less then 90 deg. also why dont you call mark up and ask him why its there for sure, he will be happy to answer your questions, let me know if you need his number
