Return it. It will cause lots of belt issues. Order everything for a 99 bird/maro. Metal gaskets and all.

On the new wp does the pulley look like the one I have on the table or is like the wp I still have mounted to my motor?

water pumps are the same. where the belt lands on the pulley is different because the accessories for a vette are closer to the block. been there and done it myself. only difference is the t-stat. the 2005 is different. your orginal t-stat will not work on the LS2 water pump. you will have to get a LS2 style t-stat housing.

The belt must ride on the edge of the pulley have you ever thrown the belt

the pulley is thinner yes. they changed the shaft design, but left everything else the same. the backside of the pulley is the same distance from the pump housing. measure the belt surface area of the pulley. it should be the same measurement. GM never changed the accessory brackets for the AC and power steering from 98 to 99-02 f-bodies.

Mrr23 I'am gonna have to agree with Josh there is no way that ls2 pump will operate correctly .Prove us wrong and post a pic if it's on your white car.

why won't it operate correctly? i'm looking over the picture in more detail, the nose is flatter. i am incorrect on mine being a LS2 design looking at that picture. mine came from a LS6 vette. has the more rounded nose.
i could be wrong. be wrong once before in my life. i'm allowed two. this one might be it.Last edited by mrr23; 05-17-2009 at 08:16 AM.
