Concerned with replacing Rear brake hardline
Hey guys, im new to this forum!
I have a 2000 Camaro Z28 with ABS and TCS
I need to replace my two brake rear brake lines becuase of rust. Id like to replace the whole line (From the ABS Module to the rear of the car)
My concern is that there is a braided section right at the ABS Module. Since I cannot buy a factory prebent hardline, can I just go to the autoparts store and buy long a$$ line and just connect it from the ABS Module to the rear of the car?
Basically, is that braided section critical, and can I just run straight hardline from the front to back??
Thanks guys!

Yes you can. The parts stores also sell the flex sections in various lengths too. If you add the flex line you'll need to add in junction. Make sure all connectors are in places that can be seen. There is some heat shielding that goes over the lines near the drivers side exhaust. They also sell it in 25' roll which you get the fun of trying to straighten it out.
Make sure you have a good quality double flare tool and do some practice on scrape pieces. I just went through this with my ABS delete kit. I can't remember the purpose of the flex line, maybe it's to make it moveable for servicing unlike hard lines.

Thank you for responding!!
I really want to avoid double flaring. I want to attempt to do a long section from front to back.
It wouldnt be the end of the world if I have to buy two shorter sections and have a double flare in the middle.
Would you recommend copper or steel hardline? I like cooper because I can bend it by hand. But I dont want line that would fail easily.
Thanks again!

stainless steel. They have a bending tool that helps make easy work.
Stay away from Autozone flare tools, total trash. I found a good one from Pepboys. OEM brand IIRC, for $30

Do a search for Fine Lines Brake Lines and you will find Fine Lines, Inc. They have prebent kits for our cars ready to ship.

Sounds good. Im going to attempt to take it out as a whole, match the bends with new line, and attempt to put the new line in.
