!!!!Big problems with new motor that came from no where!!!!!
Well after i got done christmas shopping and was headed back to work, i started it up it made a weird noise then started bellowing smoke out of the exhaust.
(mods to car in sig) first thing to go through my head was a blown head gasket due to the color of the smoke, however it doesnt have the sweet smell that coolant ususally
does when it gets burnt. not to mention i allowed it to cool down and checked the radiator and it was completely full of fluid. Well i babied it back to work so that i wasnt stranded, along the way it started popping and backfiring along with missing and pouring tons of smoke. (i couldn't see the car behind me it was so bad). Any ways i started it to try and move it after it sat the rest of the day at my work and it went straight to redline with no hesitation. i shut it off immediatly and haven't touched it since.
any ideas on what this could be? needless to say im not happy that my BRAND FREAKING NEW MOTOR MIGHT BE TOAST!!!!!
any and all help would be greatly appreciated
edit: this new motor hasn't had any power adders on it yet just an fyi2000 ss camaro, forged lq9 370 short block, stage 3 PRC 243 heads, fast 102 w, big mouth throttle body, MS3 cam, 1.7 roller rockers, stage 3 t-56, monster stage 3, pro 5.0, 4.10's with moser axles, bmr tq arm, lca's, phb. SOLD (thankfully)!!!
New project: 1968 step-side, partial restore, ls/th400 swap. hopefully boosted pics and more info to come!!!
Having a small cam is like having a small dick, everytime you go to use it you wish it was bigger

There the springs that were on the other motor, but dual spring .650's with titanium retainers so I dont see how this cam would have broken them but its worth checking

Does your map have a loose fit in the intake or is it a good tight seal? Gone nuts trying to get them to seal in the past on 90s. Just an idea before you yank the engine out.

A leaking injector or fuel pressure regulator can fill the intake port. Then hydrolock a cylinder, that would cause the noise. It will also raise the oil level and cause it to smoke. If the gas gets in the exhaust system it will also smoke. Look for easy fix first.

Sorry been gone for a while but the problem was WAY worse then though but not as bad as it could have possible been
turned out the last rocker arm on the passenger side head broke completely out, heads were ported MASSIVELY and it was paper thin in that area so it was a matter of time i guess
called a buddy that welds aluminum to see if it was fixable and he said it was too thin and would just melt through so i just scrapped them and sold the titanium valves that were in them.
luckily i had a pair of 241 heads sitting around so i just swapped the valve springs and retainers and put it all back together then sold the damn thing. tired of messing with it and need to spend money elsewhere on more important things like saving for a house etc..

Took a nice little chunk out didn't it... Sorry you decided to sell it. But, sometimes other things are more important.
