2002 LS1 engine surge/miss
Hello Again. I have a engine surge/miss problem. I first thought it was a bad tank of fuel, but after pumping it out and filling twice with fresh, its still acting up. There is no check engine light and what its doin is this- doesnt matter if its cold or warm, just off part throttle it starts holding back. I have a camaro with LS1, 6 speed, heads/cam/etc making 425RWHP. I can feel it acting sluggish, but still seems to go pretty good while acting this way. With a scan tool we cant see anything wrong...feels like a slight missfire. Its ok at just off idle (going up a gradual hill easily), but as soon as you push a little harder it starts to act sluggish again. I can hear it in the exhaust that there is something not right..and once in a while it will accelerate perfectly,,only to act up the next time. Im wondering if its an injector, slight head gasket leak, fuel pump failing, ?? Any Ideas. Also, I just installed new plugs and that wasnt it. The ceramic cones on the plugs had a shade of red on them, but looked to all be firing and were clean. If anyone has had this before, or any suggestions, please let me know what it was. Thanks.. Vonny

How many miels on your car?
I had an issue like this on my Regal GS. Though not high performance like your car it acted the same way. When I replaced the fuel filter the car ran perfectly. I was clogged really bad. Changed it an problem solved.

could be a few things... first start off with some MAF cleaner... check your fuel pressure... when is the last time you changed your fuel filter??? if you have cats one might be clogged...

Sounds like a MAF or cat problem to me. Cats can go bad and not trigger a SES light

Fixed...After LOTS of testing and testing of different items, it was dirty Injectors. Had the Injectors professionally cleaned and it runs great. I think they may have been getting dirty for a while, man does it run good now. Thanks for all the replys!

I own a Car Dealership and should have brought it to my guys weeks before. I thought I would have been able to figure it out. They had it figured out in less than 1/2 hour. We have some sort of can that hooks directly to the fuel rail and it runs on the can. the can has serious cleaners in it. I would think that any good repair shop should be able to perform this. Good Luck. We charge around $100 to perform for customers. Takes roughly an hour.

I was on the Hot Rod Power Tour (my 7th time), and got a bad tank of fuel in Iowa. I should have burned it through before parking it. It sat for about 3 weeks before I took it out again, and thats when the problems started.
