Who has lightweight wheels?
Looking for some good looking lightweight wheels at a descent price to put some dr's on. I know forged wheels are lighter than cast, so that is what I am looking for. Weld had some five spoke wheels that I liked but their website has been down. I know American Racing acquired them...does anyone know if that as anything to do with it? Show me what you got with size and offset.

since you looking for weight reduction @ the wheels... do not neglect the tire weights... chose your tire accordingly and note that the 1lb saved on tire will have more benefits than 1lb saved on the wheel since it's further away from the center of rotation (more rotational inertia)

almost stock triple-black 2000 SS convertible with 17x11s on all 4 w/ 315s at the track or on the street with 18x10.5s on all 4 w/ 315s: (1), (2)

Of course, but for tires the rear has to be drag radials which decreases the options pool. I'm thinking BF Goodrich in the 275 - 295 range. I hope that I wouldn't need to go up to a 315's with my 3k stall.

Nevermind about Weld's website. I can now see that it has been under construction.

Weld went out of business.
The ProStar design was sold to Jegs/Summit if I recall correctly.

there is ccw: http://www.ccwheel.com/
and forgeline: http://www.forgeline.com/
I almost bought a set of CCW... great value for light wheels. Ended up going w/ a more budget oriented choice. A set of 4 light wheels will run you around ~2500-3000

Weld didn't go out of business. They were "acquired" by American Racing who has continued the Weld brand name.

Thanks to my buddy from north of the border. The problem with both those companies is that the smallest sizes they offer are 18's and up. And very expensive.
I've heard of HRE but what does it stand for so I can check out their site?
