17x9.5 rims on 02 T/A
I just order all my new rims they are C5 vette rims and the size is 17x9.5
I'm probably going to do Nitto but was wondering what size I should go on each one.
The size that I found was 275/40/17 that others have said was the correct size, i'm wanting to be able to rotate the tires, so want all four the same
thinking Nitto 555's for tires, just want to make sure the size is correct for a 17x9.5
Thanks and God Bless

a P285/40ZR17 would look best but you could also do P275/40ZR17's as well.

275-40-17 is the factory size for the original 17" SS and WS6 wheels.
However I do agree with Scott, the 285's do look better. It's a subtle size change but is noticeable, fills up the wheel wells just a tad more, and I like the slightly extra width at the sidewalls to protect the wheels from curb rash.
They do tend to be a little more spendy though because that size is somewhat of an oddball and only a few tire manufactures make it.

Just got my summers put on today, 285/40/17 Continental Extreme Contact DW. They do add a wider look to the tires than my 275's did and most definately my snows (245/45/17).
Honestly, they only cost about $15.00 a tire more than the 275's. The choices are fewer though.

Tires got order from Discount Tire today, should take a couple of business days, I really wanted Nitto, so went with Nitto 555 275/40/17
I'll post pictures once they come in and get put on. Weds or Thurs
Sorry guys didn't go with the 285, maybe next time when not buying all new tires, but I really wanted to stick with a Nitto tire

I ran 30 psi in mine for daily and to be honest I didn't lower the pressure the few times I went to the track. I wouldn't go lower than 20 psi. As good as they are they are not drag radials/slicks. I would try 25 psi first before going to 20psi.

It's only 1/2 an inch wider of a wheel than the factory wheel is. Even if it was a full inch or more wider, I dont see how there would be enough of a change of contact patch at 30 psi to merit changing it for street use. Track use, like has been said before, drop to around 25 or so for the short term.
Of course the best way to figure out the best pressure would to use a tirepyrometer

No probs, its good to help each other out. The thing about an owners group is everyone has experiences, and you never know who has experienced what. Even the "least knowledgable" person (term used for convenience, not accuracy) might be the one who has been through or done something that is the answer to another persons problem.

Whats the offset of those wheels? I just put factory C5 Z06 wheels on my T/A and noticed that they are sitting a bit more outward than the stock WS6 wheels (not just becuase they are a little wider). Not enough to rub on stock ride height, but If it was lowered about 2 inches and I hit a good bump...
