lt1 power capability
what is the most power i can expect out of my 96 lt1 bottom end before she blows

A pretty good bit. Its an ironblock. Dont quote me but I think it can handle up to 900hp on stock internals.

I won't quote the guy above me but 900hp is waaaaaay off. Around 500-whp give or take.

I thought ls1 has an iron and the lt1 has an aluminum, or am i backwards?

silver- 1997 z28 LT4 / 4L65e tran
My 97 lt1 with lt4 convertion and a hot cam held up for 668 drag strip passes and burnouts. It was shifting auto @ 6250 rpm and now has 104000 miles on it. It runs great and dosnt use any oil. It was making about 405 FWHP.

I've got one that I've stroked to a 383 and put it in a Fiero....I'm getting 450 hp out of the motor....no problems so far....
