Im jealous of your mods. I wish I had money, and a better understanding of choosing the right products. 386 HP for (what seems like) under $2,000? (performance mod's. Not wheels, tires, susp,.etc...)

Yeah...well if you go the right rout. I did everything else first. Intake manifold...K&N intake filter. Full exhaust. The power is in the heads and cam. Buy a cam and a set of patriot heads. You WILL be over 400RWHP and TQ after the computer tune. I still havent put heads on mine yet. But I have done pretty much everything else.

What cam did you get? If you could do it again, would you have gotten a head/cam combo at the same time?

Yeah...what I would do...if I could go back, is go to compcams.com. They have a "what cam is right for you" type thing there. I would get a cam with about a .600 lift and Patriot Stage 3 heads. That will set anything else that you put on there off. With that radical of a cam, you should be putting over 400HP to the rear wheels. When I get them, I would order them from WS6store.com. The heads are 1300 and cam is 355. Add about 200 for misc stuff. Head bolts, gaskets, that sort of thing. I would also replace my roller lifters ($200) and pushrods while I am doing it too ($200). He can work with you on the price. I have ordered almost $6K worth in stuff from this guy, and he hasnt let me down. Thats what I would do.

Well I dont wana spend more than 6K on a head/cam setup at the same time. So I'll probably just get a cam first.
I still gotta do all that exhaust/breathing crap first.

Yeah but you wont need that at first. Go with a head and cam swap. That will be the best bang for your buck. Dont focus on intake and exhaust. You want to go fast for less. Thats how you do it. Heads and cam on a stock exhaust and a K&N filter, plus all of the FREE mods at installuniversity.com. You will be sitting pretty fast, and it will sound like it has an exhaust on it.

Hell you already have the lid. So focus on the internals. Get that all done. That way you can spin 7000RPM with no problem. They sound great when the spin up that high.

So intake manifold, headers and exhaust, is somthing I can do after cam/heads? not somthing I NEED to do before cam/head?

Nope. The stock ones will breath OK. We arent dealing with 1000HP engines where the intake manifold headers are the limiting factors. Besides, if it is limiting, when you get your intake manifold/headers. It will just make it all that much better. For the $$ heads/cam.

Yup, you build and engine from the inside out. It took me 2 cars and a bunch of posing out to figure that one out. Getting an average cam...222/224, with some little stuff helped me go from 315RWHP to 386RWHP.

Yeah, 386hp is awesome. I would love to have that, and know that if later on I did somthing like a twin turbo setup, that id be easily be pushing around 500hp. (plus maybe a 75 shot nitrous for fun).

Twin turbo setup would put you nearly 600RWHP with heads and a cam. You will need a new rear end. Forged pistons, beefed up transmission, and maybe a bigger driveshaft. 500RWHP N/A is probably where I am going to stop.
