V6 or V8 help me out!!! ><
I am currently buying a new Camaro....I have 10k to spend. I have 2 choices...2001 SS with 108k on it....and a 2000 RS with 56K on it. I really want a SS hood rims etc...(basically everything that makes the camaro an SS) So should I buy the V6 and work on it to make it an "SS" or should I just buy the SS?.....is there alot of differences between the V6 and the V8?....

well, you could get a pea shooter or you can get a cannon. I like blowing shit up, so I chose the cannon.

Go with the SS. More power, more desirable in the long run.

i got a v6 firebird first which i loved for 11,000 5 years ago in 10 grade in high school. it was cool and had the best car, for as sweet as it looks its still a v6 and i would feel soo stupid when some ls1 or even a punk ass stand pulls next to me and i couldnt do anything about it. dont limit just to 2 cars, llok around, broughden your search and time. its a investment soo something will pop up in your price range sooner or later. good luck

I say SS all the way. I don't think you will regret it.

Definately the SS. It looks better. Goes much faster (theres a huge difference in an LS1 car and a V6 Car) and will get about the same mileage if you keep your foot out of the V8 car especially if its a stick. SS x 10 votes here. 108k miles is just starting to break in. I've had a pretty trouble free 146k miles and I am super rough on my car (pedal hits the floor at least twice daily for 5 years and hundreds of time slips). Did I mention get the SS already? Well get it you'll not be disapointed I garuntee.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
Sure, buy the RS. Unless you're just looking for a driver you'll be terribly disappointed.
An example: I saw an RS yesterday while I was driving home. I drop it into low and do a few taps on the throttle. He got embarrassed and wouldn't even look at me at the next light.
BTW: The fact that it was red and he had ricer graphics on the side (i.e., "stickers" - they add HP you know) with a rear hatch banner that said "HOT BOY" in red letters is what led me to do this. I just couldn't resist.

Thanks your opinions are making it easier for me to decide...just my current car ( 01 Sunfire w/e anniversary edition) has 90K on it. So I don't want to kick myself in the butt for buying a 108K SS...I wasn't sure how long they would last you know?...plus I am a college student...funding...a bit tight..

I made the mistake many years ago (when younger) when a buddy had a convertible 5.0 mustang. I bought a convertible 2.3L 4 cylinder. My parents insisted on a SAFER car!! I was so excited to get a mustang that I didn't care about the engine. But I only enjoyed it for about a week. Oh yeah, I slapped some 16 inch rims and huge nittos on it and some 5.0 badges on the side...it was looking nice...until a 5.0 got next to me and revved the engine. I felt so stupid. I promised myself to never, ever make that mistake again!
I have never since bought a lower optioned/engined car. I hated that mustang and I had to keep it for 4.5 years! It sucked royally. DONT DO IT! Just get the SS. You will be happy with it.

Ok...maybe you can help me decide on this... 99 Camaro SS 62K miles on it.. CAI black as dirt >.> Interior is horrible...leather is cracked/worn...the driver side power window/lock/mirror device is torn out of the door, and doesn't work. Has some old POS Clarion CD player. Did I mention it was dirty!!?...dust all over...dirt on the flooboard..Second choice.....00 Camaro SS with 108K on it. All looks good....emacculate...woman says driverside seat has power trouble or something?.....everything on this one is stock...Both cars are red with the black top (t-tops) the first one is 9.5k and the second one is 10.5k.....(could go down if I talk the price down)...Matter of fact the first car is the car shown on my Avatar screen...

I would go with the first one because of the low miles. All the things you talk about are cosmetic. You can fix most all of it with just a little time and elbow grease. As for the seats and switch, you can just swap them out. No big deal and you will have a lower mileage car. You can also talk the owner down more too due to the necessary "repairs." Good luck but both cars sound great.
As long as they are not V6
