i've heard of some people having success registering the vehicle to a post office box address in a nearby county that doesn't have emission testing. i don't know if you would be able to pull that off in your area or not.
although that could cause problems with insurance if the area you register it might have cheaper rates, you have an accident, and the insurance co. proves you don't live there.
wait, you need an emissions test to get insurance? or am i reading that wrong. we need an emissions test before getting the state safety inspection done. some less populated counties are exempt from emissions. maybe you don't work that way at all.Last edited by dklowrider; 01-18-2010 at 02:59 PM.

Your gonna have a hard time doing that. But it really depends on your local emissions requirements.
In NY, the OBD2 cars only need the check engine light off to indicate that the sensors are ready to be read and are within range. They don't do the exhaust sniffer test here on OBD2 anymore. So if you can make the car believe it is normal, maybe through O2 simulators or something as such, you could pull it off.
