Well I tried to order a stripper SS in 2002 but you had to get power everything in order to get the SS, but I think the first year or 2 of the LS1 SS you could order them stripped with just the SS package although I'm not 100%. I ended up getting a 1SC stripper Z28 instead, GM lostthemselves about $3k because I couldn't order it that way. I can barely find an SS without T-tops!

silver- 1998 Z28
i think it was a 1LE package right? i ran into a guy when i was in Biloxi, before the hurricane, and he had picked up a Z with the 1LE package, and it didn't have backseats, a radio, or shit..

NBM- 99 Camaro SS
I Ordered my 99SS [hardtop] only options SS package, standard interior package, which encluded power seats, windows, door locks, key less entry, cruise, p.mirrors, etc. & really wasn't opt. Only other option was rear window def.
I actually tried to order w/o the $1591 interior package but salesman said it would be a real hassle, but could be done. I decided to go with the package,& am really glad I did !
Anyway car weighed about 3325 with 1/4 - 1/2 tank of gas. {stock] & stickered for$26,866.Mods Whisper lid & MAF,Hurst W/chrome stick & line lock, AM shift lite, BMR LCA's & Panhard rod, Mac's W/ORP & C/O, GM Superior 4.10's & T/A Cover & stud Kit, GM Hot Cam, ATI C/balancer. Y2K Vette wheels ,
Nittos, LS6 intake, CAGS & Free/Mods.

yea without the interior package it'd be a real inconvience to drive it, but it'd probably lighten it up 200 pounds idk

Yeah it was not fun leaning over the console breaking your ribs to try and roll the window up or down. The lack of cruise was pretty bad also and having to lean over to unlock the passenger door also sucked but my car still weighed 3340 or so as a 1SC stripper Z28 but I did special order it with manual tan leather seats, salesman had never seen them before, they even had adjustments to swivel the bottom seat angle which we didn't find out about until a month or so later fiddling with it.

white- 98 SS
ordered my 98 w/ no options except the ss package and no-cost m6. no pwr windows, doors, or anything - the driver side mirror has a stalk and the pass side mirror needs to be moved w/ your thumb. not even a trunk release!
the only thing that stinks is rolling down the pass window

You could order a stripped SS all the way through 2001 but by 2002, the last year, the power package was mandatory. I know because I tried back when I bought mine.

Silver- 2000 Camaro SS
what exactly is so special about the strippers? sorry, i didnt mean for that to sound rude, i just didnt know how else to ask. is weight the only benefit? cuz i couldnt imagine that huge of a weight difference unless im misunderstanding something.
or is it just that they are rare, which makes them cool?
