Sounds pretty pimp to me. Unfortuneatley you can get a new v8 pony car for what they want for the v6

Hyundai keeps getting better and they see a opportunity to hop in the sportcar segment. Car & Driver and Motortrend are already using the V6 in the pony car comparos so going to a V8 makes alot of sense to me. Plus there are rumors that they are gonna bring back the Tiburon in a 4, turbo 4 or V6 setup so having the Genesis as its bigger more powerful brother works well.

Yea, I always thought the Genesis were badass looking cars, I think it'd be cool if they go ahead and put some real power behind it.

kool. if they can make it in the segment then more power to em. it's a nice looking car and has already been compared to the v6 camaro so it's somewhat logical to look at a v8 option.

Damn man, thats pretty cool. I didn't know the six made that much power either, like I knew they were quick, just not THAT quick. Very cool cars, I don't know if they discontinued that "Tiburoune" or whatever car, but damn, the Genesis is one hell of an upgrade from it.

Competition is a great thing. It should be a great performer with that kind of power. Probably looking at a solid 12 second car straight out of the box.

the 2.0 turbo in the genesis coupe is a bit underpowered at 210 h.p.,the 2.0 turbo we are putting into the 2011 sonata has 276 h.p.! But if they come to market with a 2.0 T at 276 hp vs a v6 with 315 hp,the v6 would lose sales.

so in a time of economic troubles, being more conscious about being green, environmentally friendly, and having more economic cars, they solve this by putting bigger motors in cars...

Rear wheel drive? If so I bet the ricers will still put slicks on the front and the skinnies on the back.

you can combine power and frugality.
quote from autoblog:
"According to Hyundai, its new 274-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged engine for the 2011 Sonata sedan is going to be a real gem. To wit, the Korean automaker says the boosted-four will propel its midsize sedan to 60 miles per hour in just 6.5 seconds. That's serious speed for the segment and it means the Sonata will at least have the accelerative chops to stick with the rest of the sport sedan competition.
Of course, these days frugality is just as important as horsepower, and Hyundai assures us that its 2.0T-powered Sonata will be able to return the promised 22 miles per gallon in the city and 34 on the highway – all on regular-grade fuel. For those who like to keep track of such things, Hyundai claims those figures are 16% and 17% better respectively than the outgoing 3.5-liter V6."
