Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the only President to serve four terms, Got U.S out of great depression, set regulations on wall street that kept market from crashing for over 50 years, ended child labor, supported labor unions so Americans could earn a decent wage for a earnest days work, created social security administration which is still strong today with our government borrowing from it and trying to destroy it by turning it over to wall street. FDR was the People's President. If he had lived there would have been other great deeds to remember.

Many contribute the 22nd Amendment to FDR. So that a POTUS can't overstay their welcome... Just saying

I saw it at first and thought you meant GW as in George W Bush.
And this is a good question... I think it should be broken down into different eras, as this country has changed a great deal throughout its' existence, with different challenges facing different presidents. Overall greatest though... nobody from the past 20 years, that's for sure

Agree, set the presidence that Presidents are not kings and should not serve life time appointments plus a great whiskey maker.
Ubber progressive that extended the damage the Great Depression caused by his New Deal. It was WWII that pulled us out of the depression. Many of his New Deal regulation was found unconstitutional by the SCOTUS.
Not saying some of it was all bad, just not the greatest President of all time.

This is nearly an impossible thing to answer. As said above - the nation has changed so much, and to fully understand the circumstances over the 237+ years you'd have to be alive in all of them to give a truly informed answer or opinion.

2016 Camaro SS - Summit- 2001 Trans Am WS6 - NBM
None in my lifetime, I have no reason to comment on those I didn't live to see in power. I can't definitively state a greatest President simply by reading on them, times were different for each one, books and stories can only tell so much. But surely there must have been a better President than the ones I HAVE seen in power...

Now if we use the criteria of "in my lifetime*" I'll say Reagan. Ended the Berlin Wall and destroyed Communism.
* - in my life time we've had Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, HW Bush, Clinton, GW Bush, Obama.

Damn I've only been around for the last 4 but only old enough to remember the last 3. So I don't have as many to pick from if we are doing in "Best President in our lifetime". I would pick gw bush but that is because he is better than the other two imho but not necessarily the best.
