Two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officers Killed
Attached is the most current info available publicly. Both officers were married, one had kids. Both were prior military (Air Force and Marines). Suspect had a lengthy record.
I respectfully ask that you remember these are two real human beings who are now dead because of a senseless act of violence. This isn't fiction.

I saw that on CNN last night, did you know these guys personally? I feel sorry for the officers families, they were saying one of the officers wives were pregnant while having a two year old allready. I hope that idiot gets the death penalty for his actions.

Yes, we do.
I'm interested in becoming a LEO (not Lawdog), and both of my neighbors are LEOs. This saddens me, as LEO and Fire and EMS are all emergency personnel.
My condolences to the family, friends, and co-workers.

I wonder what happened. I don't see how one man could kill two trained police officers(both prior military) while neither officer even got a round off.

What I don't understand is how the suspect was able to fire on both of them without one of them being able to return fire. That suspect must have really caught them by surprise. Any time I've ever been pulled over the cop has always had his hand resting on his holster just in case. Hmm.

Look at some of the hyperlinks and facts in the article. If anyone is considering law enforcement as a career, take this into consideration.
The South is the most dangerous place to be a cop. Over half the officers killed were in the south and that is a consistent statistic, but it can - and has - happen[ed] everywhere in the U.S.
The Police Memorial in Charlotte is very moving. It has one officer holding another officer who is dying. All around the monument are the names of officers killed in the line of duty. It is directly in front of the HQ building. Other cities do this as well.
