can you get an ip address?
if someone is iming you using AOL instant messnger, can you get their IP address, and if so how? are there programs out there or any other ways?

You could view your current connections and isolate the IP through trial and error.
Or much easier, get it out of them through social engineering.

It's been a long time since I did this sort of thing, but this is what I remember.
(I'm using Windows XP)
Go to "start", then "Run". In the Run window type "CMD" and click ok.
When the command prompt comes up, type in "netstat". All the active connections to your computer should appear.
Now, open a new command prompt window, then in your AIM messenger window; you need to request a direct connection and have it accepted by the person who's IP you want.
After they accept it, type in netstat into your new second command prompt and assuming everything else stays the same*, when compared to the previous (first) netstat command, there should be one new connection, which would tell you the IP address of the person you just directly connected with.
*This is important because any internet connection change can change the netstat list, such as a webpage loading/refreshing, and advertisement loading, and pop-up window appearing, a computer game pinging its online server, any background processes that require the internet, a virus your computer might have, etc etc.

I just did this at work for shits and giggle and Ahh there are a lot of connections. I feel like im being watched lol.
