Oxygen Sensor

I have a code for a bad o2 sensor. Goodyear said that it will cost $155 just for the sensor?? That seems a little high to me. Is there anywhere I can get it cheaper?

Which sensor/can you post the actual code? If it's a post-cat sensor code my money is on a possible bad cat and not the sensor at all.

+1, I've never seen a code that says you have a bad O2 unless it's a heater circuit and then there is a good chance it's an O2.

I am not really sure. I did not get an actual code. I know that 2 different places said that it is the o2 sensor.... that is all I know..

Eather way in answer to your question, Yes you can get them cheaper at places like autozone,napa,advanceauto. Call around but you will need to know if it's the up streem or down streem sensor, autozone can read the code if the SES light is on.

Go to autozone and have them read the code for you. They will tell you its something like O2 sensor lean bank 2 sensor 2 or something. This will tell you which sensor is out. If it is just one sensor get under the car and swap it out with the similar sensor on the other side( I believe its a 7/8 socket). Then reset your PCM and drive the car around for like 50 miles or till the SES light comes back on. Go back to autozone and have them read the code again. IF the code followed the sensor it is a bad sensor,IF the code stayed in the same place it could be your catalytic converter.

An O2 sensor cost $70- $75 at autozone. I just bought 2 myself.

just go back and get the code read again and post it back up here. Replacing an O2 sensor is pretty easy stuff if that's what it is but I would be sure before I dropped $75 on a new one. It could be a cat code which will have people telling you your O2 sensor is bad and your cats are still under warranty so I would want to know if I need to spend $75 before doing it. Might be a free fix.

If you are trying to get O2s at the dealership you might run across some issues unless you have someone in parts that knows a bit. They shold only cost about 75. If they start saying 150+ each then tell them to look on DSW and check to see if the numbers have changed with 15% markup it is right around 75.

If you do truly need O2 sensors, Auotzone sells universal ones for like $60, but you have to splice a new connector. Bosch gives you all you need, and it'll save you $15 bucks. Plus you can borrow their O2 sensor sockets which have slots for the wires.
