Posting Guidelines for LS1.com Forums

LS1.com forums were established in 1998 to create a friendly environmentfor LSx enthusiasts to interact in laid back, family-orientated environment. In order to foster this friendly interaction and create an environment where ALL LSx enthusiasts feel comfortable posting and hanging out, we have created a set of rules and guidelines which all members are required to follow. These rules are general in nature, as it is impossible to spell out every possible offense that may result in a thread being locked, deleted, or edited.

The rules are as follows:

1. Expletives

Expletives (swear words) are not allowed, and for good reason. If you feel you must swear to get your point across, please censor your language appropriately so as to not be overly offensive. (e.g., "S***!") Replacing one or two letters in an expletive by using ASCII characters (! for I, etc) is not an acceptable solution.

2. Spamming

Spamming or business advertisements by businesses who do not sponsor LS1.com is not allowed. Threads or PMs determined to be "spam" will be deleted or forwarded to the Administration. This type of posting could possibly result with privileges to our board restricted or denied without notice. Lottery schemes being advertised on this board are considered Spam. Excessive advertisement of other "for profit" forums is also considered spam, and will be dealt with accordingly. If you are interested in sponsoring LS1.com, please send inquiries to Contact. To offer added support to our Sponsors, we would ask that you refrain from recommending non-sponsor businesses, products, or services that are in direct competition to our Sponsors in your thread replies. If you wish to offer another source to our Members, please use the PM or e-mail option to give the information to our Members in a private manner. We will remove information in threads that will reduce revenue for our Sponsors.

Using PM's or images to advertise is also against the Rules

Soliciting for Members of this site to go and join another site is also considered a form of Spam. Mentioning another site for reference or as an information source is acceptable.

3. Flames or Derogatory Insults

Flames or derogatory insults are strictly against the rules. If you disagree with another member's point of view, do so in a mature and civil manner. If someone posts to discuss their personal problems or seek help from other forum members, please do not respond unless you have something positive or helpful to add. If you find yourself being flamed or insulted by another member, please do not dignify that person with a response. Notify a moderator and let us handle it. If you feel you must respond to a flame or insult directly, please do NOT do so on the board. Use private messages or e-mail.
Threating another member is also against the rules.
Suggestion: If you are particularly irritated by another member's posting habits and are constantly fighting the urge to flame them, you can click on that person's profile, and select "Add to ignore list." This will make that person's posts invisible to you.

4. Racist or Sexist

Threads or replies promoting or expressing racist or sexist views will not be tolerated.

5. Porn

Porn is not welcomed here. Pictures showing nudity may be allowed in our off-topic section if an appropriate "Not Work Safe" warning is posted in the subject line, and the picture is at worst, "R-rated". Changing a thread to NWS by posted a pic is also not allowed. "X-rated" pictures, sites, or links are and will remain strictly against the rules.

6. Avatars and Signatures

The same rules that apply to your posts apply to your signatures and avatars. Please keep this in mind when selecting your avatar or signature. Avatars are not allowed. All Avatars may be sized up to the following maximum limits: 100 X 100 Pixel max 20,000 Byte max Avatar tests will be allowed in "Testing" forum, where posts do not count towards your post count.

7. "Free Post"

"Free Posts", or posting solely for the purpose of boosting your post count is also not allowed. Many people judge member's credibility based on post count, so we ask that you obtain your post count legitimately. Furthermore, free posts waste server space and ISP bandwidth unnecessarily. Threads to announce your post count are considered free posts and will be locked. “In B4 Da lock” is considered Free posting too. Signature tests and avatar tests will be allowed in "The Testing" forum, where posts do not count towards your post count. In other forums, they will be treated as free posts.

8. Posting Topics

Please post your topics in the most appropriate forum (i.e., tech threads only in tech forums). If you post a thread that would be more appropriate in another forum, a moderator will move it for you. However, please do not make the moderators do this for you. Use your judgment to determine which forum(s) best suits your topic. If you are dealing with a TECHNICAL topic and it could appropriately fit in more than one forum, you may post it in multiple forums. Multiple posting or X-Posting should be held to a maximum of 2 forums. (e.g. Help & Engine, Forced Induction and Engine

9. Controversial topics

Controversial topics, such as religion, abortion, retardation, racism, etc., will NOT be allowed. Although these topics usually start out civilly enough, experience has shown that these sort of topics invariably disintegrate into all out flame wars and heated arguments.

10. Drugs/narcotics

Threads/replies promoting illicit drugs/narcotics will not be allowed.

11. Illegal/Unethical

Threads/replies encouraging other Illegal/Unethical action (like "Best way to kill neighbor's dog?") will not be allowed.

12. "Poop" thread

"Poop" threads, or similarly immature and offensive topics (graphic sex or sexual acts) will not be allowed.

13. "Trolling"

"Trolling", or makings posts with the sole intention of creating problems on the forums is obviously against the forum guidelines. This includes registering an alternate ID for the sole purpose of creating problems on the forums. "Troll ID's" will be locked immediately and permanently, and can be locked without notification to the offender. Offending Members can/will also be banned. Members are allowed one user account.

14. Threads/Replies

Threads/replies attacking LS1.com policies will not be allowed.

15. “Cop bashing”

Persistent or purposeful “cop bashing” is not allowed. Referring to a LEO, cop, policeman, etc is appropriate but unproven defamatory remarks or titles will not be tolerated.

16. Malicious or harmful URL links

Any Member of the LS1.com site that posts malicious or harmful URL links that cause:
A) other Member’s PCs to become locked or have to be rebooted in order for the PC to regain functionality
B) “screaming”, (cannot be viewed safely for content or sound at work)
Will lose posting privileges for 3 days. A repeat offender may be permanently banned from the board.

17. Sponsors bashing

Our paying Sponsors deserve respect and restraint. Attacking a sponsor on the board is strictly prohibited. If you have a complaint with a Sponsor, you may send the information directly to an Administrator/Moderator and it will be passed directly to the Sponsor for action or resolution. If you do post on the board about a specific problem involving a Sponsor, please remain calm and state the facts. Do not let emotion cloud the issue at hand. When your thread is read by a moderator, the moderator will do the following:
A) Lock the thread and place a copy of the thread in the Moderator Forum OR the Sponsor Forum. These forums are not visible to the members but I assure you they do exist.
B) Reply to the locked thread that (A) has taken place.
C) The moderator or Administrator will update the locked thread with the response from the Sponsor OR the Sponsor will contact you directly. We really hope situations can be resolved off-line but we will not prohibit a statement of fact BUT we will control the thread so as to stop the “Hate” or “Me too” replies these threads often generate.

18. Moderator or Administrator bashing

Posting a thread or reply to question or criticize Moderator or Administrator actions is not appropriate in a public forum. Please utilize the board's Private Message function, or e-mail, if you wish to discuss these issues. As long as you bring up your concerns maturely and civilly to the Moderator or Administrator in question, we will do our best to address your concerns fairly and promptly. Here are the "Do's" and "Dont's" of addressing your concerns to Moderators or Administrators:
"Do" be civil and polite. Bring up your concerns in a mature and respectful manner. If you are contacting us because you violated forum guidelines, be adult enough to admit your mistake. If your ID has been locked for some reason, talking politely to us about it in private, via e-mail or private message, can get your ID reinstated in many cases.
"Do not" be derogatory or insulting towards us. You will not get what you want by name calling or bashing us.
All we ask is that you treat us the way you would want us to treat you. If you treat us with respect, we will do the same for you.
If you violate forum guidelines, in most cases, you can expect the following action from the Moderators/Administrators:
1. First offense - Warning by moderator by issuing an Infraction.
2. Second offense- 3-day lock of your ID
3. Subsequent offense- longer ID locks, possibly permanent.
Please realize that the nature of the offense will determine the action to be taken. If the violation is extreme enough, or has been repeated enough times in the past, a member can have his/her ID locked without a warning. Threads or replies that do not comply with our guidelines may be locked, edited, or deleted, depending on the nature of the offense. We will make every effort to state why such action was taken via private message, e-mail, and/or Moderator reply in the offending thread. For this reason, we ask that you check your private messages often. You can find out whether or not you have received any private messages by logging into your user CP. You can set your options so that the board notifies you when you have received a private message,if you so desire.

The above rules and guidelines are necessary to make LS1.com forums comfortable and enjoyable for ALL LSx and automotive enthusiasts.
If you feel you can not comply with the rules above, please refrain from using LS1.com forums.
Thank you
