no, you wanna leave 2 specific plates in it.....if you dont it will sound like shit....
he does this alot, I trust him. what we do is pull the cat off, cut the skin with the plasma cutter, do the hollowing, and removal, then weld the skin back on. place it back up, and you can pas a visual police inspection.........pretty slick huh?

yeah, thats what we wanna prevent. maybe bend a little sheetmetal and weld it in, to get the exhaust to flow a little smoother through there.

Ive got the 2.5" magnaflow catback on 02 trans am and it sounds pretty good but i was wondering about the other 3" catback that they make. How do these two compare against one anouther in sound and in performance?

I didnt know they made a 2.5" system
definetly the 3" will make more power due to greater flow. as for sound, I dont know, it depends on what muffler you have.
after about 2 weeks, the exhaust got noticably louder, and was completley broken in. I love this system, and will try to get a video of the sound before and after I put the long tubes on it.

Not exactly true. If a motor isn't built to the point where it 'requires' that much airflow, stepping up the exhaust diameter won't yield addition power. I've been down that road with a bolt-on car. Going from 2.5 to 3" made no difference. Now with more extensive mods, surely it will.

I've heard 2.5 is enough up to 500 crank horsepower.. The Guru's like nhra or Sarge would probably know more. I went 3" on my car and sorta wish I didn't damn thing bangs on the PHR on good bumps.. Time for the BFH mod.

A+, 4 stars on Magnaflow's catback for the LS1. Easy install, affordable (300.00) and nice deep throaty sound. I highly recommend this catback.

I'll make a video soon of the sound of a magnaflow 3" with 3" ORY, and stepped long tube headers.
you hear a little more chop at idle, and definetly more volume while driving. at idle and small amounts of throttle, its very very quiet. easy to sit in traffic, or listen to music
