Black- 98 Trans-Am
98 Trans-Am -- Heavily Modded Race Car
Hey guys,
I never thought I'd be doing this, but I think I'm at a point now that I need to get rid of this car and let someone else enjoy it. I bought the car brand new in '98 and have been the only owner. I know I'm probably missing some stuff, but this is what I remember. There's a lot of things that were done on the car which were custom made, so there was a lot of R&D and "tweaking" if you would to make this car run, as well as a ton of money.
Here's some information on the car:
Engine:
408ci 14:1 solid-roller motor (6.0L block) built by Erik Koenig in Houston
SCAT Billet 4" Crank
Heads re-ported by Greg Good in Houston (flowed over 320cfm / 190cfm)
266 / 272 cam w/ ~.700" lift - custom ground by LSM
Comp Cams 943-16 Springs
T&D 1.7:1 Roller Rockers
Custom Wiseco 4.030 Dome Pistons
All bearings coated at Polydyn
Custom Piston Pins from PPP
ARP Main Studs
Rollmaster LS1 Double Roller Timing Chain
Morel LS1 Solid Roller Lifters
CVP 5/16" 7.550 Pushrods
Cometic 4.120 head gaskets / .040" thickness
ARP LS1 Head Bolts (for 6.0L block)
FAST 90mm Intake + Throttle Body
Brand new oil pan / windage Tray
ASP Underdrive Pulley
Dynatech 1 7/8" Stepped Headers w/ Merge Collector
Bullet Mufflers with turndowns
Drivetrain:
Manual Valve Body 200r4 Transmission fully built by Century Automotive
Aluminum 3" Driveshaft
Coan 6000rpm stall 8" Converter (custom built for this car)
Moser 12-bolt with 4.30 gears
Baer Eradispeed Rotors
(probably missing some stuff here, but I can answer questions)
Suspension:
Stock Springs all around
Chromoly K-Member / A-Arms
Spohn Solid Motor Mounts
HAL 12-way Adjustable Shocks (front/rear)
Pete-Z Bars
IRS Torque Arm (this is the one that bolts/welds into the transmission tunnel)
Hotchkis Rear Control Arms
(probably missing some stuff here too)
Other Mods:
Custom made high-capacity radiator
Whisper Lid
K&N Air Filter
Vaccum Pump (pulls roughly 12" of vaccum)
Custom made valve cover spacers (oil resistant rubber)
B&M Pro Stick Shifter
Chromoly 6-point cage w/ Swingout bar
Stock carpet removed, aftermarket carpet added
Meziere electric water pump (in-dash switch)
Electric switch installed internally for fans (in-dash switch)
Corbeau Forza seats (driver/passenger)
Simpson 5-point racing harness (driver/passenger)
Grant GT Steering Wheel
Suncoast Creations Fiberglass WS6 Hood w/ Heat Extractors
Dynabatt Battery
Autometer Phantom Gauges:
- Monster Tach w/ Shift Light
- Oil Pressure Gauge (mounted in dash)
- Coolant Temp Gauge (mounted in dash)
- Fuel Pressure Gauge (mounted in dash)
- Nitrous gauge (mounted in dash - never used)
Weld Pro-Star Wheels w/ ET Fronts and ET Drags 28" x 10.5"
Fikse FM-10 Wheels (17 x 9.5") with Tires (Michelin Pilots in front / Nitto Drags in rear)
A/C removal
Heater removal
Sound deadener removal
Power Steering removal
Other miscellaneous weight loss
Last time I weighed the car, it was about 3100lbs with me in it, but you wouldn't be able to tell unless you investigated under the hood and inside very closely. Also, I'm sure it's slightly heavier with the iron block.
The suspension has been tried and true on the car, as well as dialing everything in. On my old motor which was an 11.2:1 pump gas 408 with a 260/266 cam, the car was cutting a 1.26 60' all day long. The motor was hurt though with two blown head gaskets we were having to reseal after every pass (it was a track weekend, so we did what we had to do). The car still ran extremely strong though. That motor was scrapped, and what is listed above is what's in there.
This new motor has never been run or been on a dyno. It starts though and sounds extremely strong. I am going to take it in the next week or so to get tuned. I don't plan on running it at the track though, I will leave that to the next owner.
Here are some pictures:
Here's some video:
- Racing at No Problem Raceway (awesome wheel stand)
- Major kill against a '69 Camaro with some engine work
Asking $20,000 OBO - Will consider trades as well. Reply either here, or email me at emelloul@gmail.com.
Keep in mind guys, I'm very flexible on the price, I'm just putting a price up there if I have to...
