Previous Owner Woes AKA how to clean a MAF?
Ok so it's not really that big a woe, nor can I say for SURE that it was the previous owner but somewhere along the line when somebody was working on my car they pried the lid up off the airfilter and pulled the bellows out of the collar on the lid, so the car ran for who knows HOW long with essentially no filtration. I know this you see, because the MAF screen had a TON of crap in it, but the filter was pretty much spotless.
So I took it apart and took a vacume to the screen and got it cleaned up fairly well, and then gingerly used the vacum on the other side as well, careful not to damage the sensors, but I know I've read before about using some kind of solvents on them and before I go spraying anything in there I wanted to check sith you folks and see the proper way to clean these things without damaging them.

NAPA carries an aerosol MAF cleaner, works pretty well and will not damage the sensor

I'd just use some CRC contact cleaner. Its made for electrical things, and shouldn't damage it.
